Dr. Lawrence Bruksch achieved his undergraduate degree in Biology at Northwestern University and his medical degree at the University of Illinois, where he graduated at the top of his class and with multiple honors, including selection to the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, one of only two OB/GYN physicians in Santa Monica so recognized. Dr. Bruksch founded Plaza Towers Obstetrics & Gynecology, which was the busiest OB/GYN practice at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from 1982-2002 and has been the busiest practice at St. John's Health Center from 2002-2012. Dr. Bruksch has performed the majority of gynecologic surgeries for the practice over that time, gaining a wealth of experience in all facets of surgery.

His special interests are urogynecologic surgeries, pelvic reconstruction and multiple and high risk pregnancies. He has been voted "Super Doctor of Los Angeles" by his peers, "Patients' Choice" by his patients and recently received a commendation from St. John's Health Center for "Outstanding Patient Satisfaction".

Dr. Rastegar was born at St. John’s Hospital and grew up in Santa Monica, California. She attended local schools for elementary, middle and high school. Dr. Rastegar performed piano competitively and received the highest honor within the State of California, achieving membership into the prestigious Young Artists’ Guild.

However, Dr. Rastegar knew from a young age that her calling lay in medicine. She therefore chose to pursue a premed education at Stanford University, where upon acceptance, she was awarded the prestigious Presidents’ Scholar Grant for intellectual studies. Dr. Rastegar’s interest in women’s health could be evidenced as early as a prize-winning study of the effect of birth control pills on women’s health.

Following college, Dr. Rastegar spent two years at UCSF, involved in clinical researchon pulmonary disease. She then attended Case Western School of Medicine, in Cleveland, Ohio, where she did her clinical rotations at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. While in medical school, Dr. Rastegar received an award for her community outreach project on fish consumption in pregnancy. It was during medical school that Dr. Rastegar’s passion for women’s health led her to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Rastegar then returned home to Los Angeles and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She feels fortunate to be able to provide comprehensive care to women, ranging from normal pregnancy and preventative gynecologic care to the care of high-risk pregnancies, multiple gestations, individualized birth experiences, post-partum care, infertility, uterine, fibroids and polyps, abnormal pap smears, birth control counseling, painful periods, vaginal infections, ovarian cysts and more. Her rigorous training has also prepared her to handle a multitude of obstetrical and surgical emergencies. Additionally, Dr. Bickman has struggled with infertility, so is able to relate to her patients on a very personal level.  She specializes in high-risk pregnancies, and strives to help women have the birth experience they desire. Unlike many group OBGYN practices, Dr. Bickman delivers all her patients’ babies herself. Her patients never have to worry who will be with them in the delivery room. Dr. Bickman is a board certified OBGYN with hospital affiliations at both St. John’s Health Center and UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Bickman was born and raised in Los Angeles, attending Westlake School for Girls for high school, UC Berkeley and UCLA undergraduate and the USC school of Medicine. Dr. Bickman did her residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

David Ahdoot, M.D., FACOG is a board-certified OB-GYN, who serves as a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Ahdoot obtained his medical degree at the University of California San Diego before going on to complete a nationally renowned residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California Irvine. He has authored more than 30 publications and is the recipient of numerous awards including Patient’s Choice Award and the Top 10 Doctor Award in Los Angeles.

In addition to seeing patients at his private practice, he also has an academic affiliation as an assistant clinical professor at UCLA. Dr. Ahdoot has privileges with three area hospitals: Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Encino-Tarzana Hospital, and Providence Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Ahdoot is bilingual in both English and Spanish to better serve the patients in the community.

Dr. Ahdoot specializes in minimally invasive surgery and is a nationally recognized robotic surgeon. Shelly R. Coe, MD, MSc, NCMP, is a UCLA-trained gynecologist and a certified menopause practitioner in Newport Beach, California. Dr. Coe takes an evidence-based approach to care, focusing on her patients’ physical and social wellbeing. She’s passionate about building trust, and partners with patients on their journey to meet their health and wellness goals. She provides expert care to women of all ages, including teens.  

Education

Dr. Coe received her bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton and her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. She remained at the UCLA Medical Center to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was certified as a menopause practitioner by the North American Menopause Society in 2012. To further her education, Dr. Coe recently received her Master of Science in health policy from City, University of London in the UK, and has a dedicated interest in health care reform and public policy.

 

Personal

Dr. Coe was born and raised in Orange County, California until the age of 12 when she moved with her family to Montana. After graduating high school, she returned to Southern California where she–a first-generation college student–worked full-time to fund her education in the pursuit of becoming a physician. She has always been an avid athlete, paddling for 10 years on the Dana Point outrigger canoe team throughout her undergraduate education and running, swimming, and biking throughout medical school and residency. After finally mastering her chosen field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she worked in private practice in Newport Beach, CA until her second child was born, after which she reduced her practice to surgery assisting in order to spend more time with her family. When her mother suffered a permanent spinal cord injury from a horse accident, she put her career on hold and moved to Montana to be near her parents. She raised her children between Whitefish, Montana and London, England. This time spent collecting adventures and memories with her children is priceless to her. With both children now in college, she was able to return to private practice in Newport Beach, CA to re-engage with her life-long passion and commitment to collaborating with women to meet their healthcare goals and live empowered lives. She has worked tirelessly towards her re-entry process and developing her private practice goals. She has survived many expected and unexpected transitions in life and overcoming these challenges has inspired her to be a brave advocate for empowering women to take charge of the factors that influence their health and overall wellness. She remains a devoted mom.

When she’s not improving her patients’ health, Dr. Coe channels her creative energy and desire to work with her hands into gardening, cooking, and drawing–she even started college as an art major! She would call herself a “foodie”, loves to perfect recipes, and enjoys learning about new cultures through food. She is also a health and fitness enthusiast and enjoys active travel with her friends and family, including biking, hiking, and skiing.

Dr. Kenna Schnarr is dual-boarded in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Medicine, bringing a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to women’s health. Originally from a small town with very few doctors, Dr. Schnarr values strong patient relationships and continuity of care.
