Leonid Zukin, MD is a board-certified and Harvard fellowship-trained cataract, refractive, and corneal surgeon. Originally from Belarus, Dr. Zukin immigrated to Denver in early childhood and considers himself a Colorado native.Dr. Zukin obtained early guaranteed admission to medical school after high school via the University of Colorado’s BS-MD Program, where he graduated summa cum laude and received the Outstanding Undergraduate award as the top graduate from the College. He then matriculated to the University of Colorado School of Medicine as a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship, the highest merit-based scholarship at the institution. Dr. Zukin completed his residency training at the University of Southern California (USC), a perennially top rank ophthalmology program. With tireless dedication to his patients and superb clinical/surgical acumen, he was selected to serve as Chief Resident of Ophthalmology at the LAC+USC Medical Center, a level-one trauma center serving Los Angeles County with among the busiest eye clinics in the country. He capped his training with a prestigious fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Under the tutelage of global leaders in ophthalmology, Dr. Zukin obtained expertise in complex cataract surgery, refractive surgery (including LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL), corneal cross-linking, and all forms of corneal transplant surgery (including DMEK, DSAEK, DWEK, PKP, DALK, and artificial cornea implantation). Outside the clinic, you can find him road cycling in Denver, working to fix his slice on the golf course, hiking the trails in the Rocky Mountains, and playing classical piano. Dr. Zukin is also fluent in Russian.
William Richheimer, MD, is a skilled ophthalmologist and the founder of Mile High Eye Institute, which has locations in Englewood, Broomfield, and Edwards, Colorado, as well as Goodland, Kansas.
Dr. Richheimer fell in love with Colorado during his residency at Denver’s St. Joseph’s hospital. After leaving to complete his training at world-renowned eye centers, Dr. Richheimer returned to Colorado. In 2008, he realized his dream of creating his own leading-edge vision care practice, Mile High Eye Institute.
As a leader in ophthalmology, Dr. Richheimer was the first fellow in the United States to be fully certified in the Staar Implantable Contact Lens, the first U.S. surgeon to perform ultra-thin DSEK, and one of only a few local surgeons who performs corneal cross-linking. Dr. Richheimer stays at the forefront of cataract surgery, providing the most advanced techniques and all options for lens implant technology.
Dr. Richheimer enjoys giving back to the community through teaching and volunteering. On numerous occasions, he has provided surgical care in underserved countries. In his spare time, he relishes adventures with his family, as well as working towards his goal of becoming an iron-distance triathlete.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Vest earned a degree in biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University before attending the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas for his medical school, ophthalmology residency, and glaucoma fellowship. Dr. Vest has participated in research concerning the efficacy and safety of new surgical technologies in glaucoma.
Outside of the office, Dr. Vest and his wife spend much of their free time enjoying the outdoors by hiking, fly fishing, and camping. Dr. Vest was named a 5280 Top Doctor in 2021.
Dr. Vest is currently accepting new patients and looks forward to welcoming them to Mile High Eye Institute and providing them with spectacular care.
“I was from out of town and lost sight in my right eye. My regular eye doctor advised me to go to the ER in case of a stroke. The ER doctor in conjunction with Dr. Vest did not feel that was happening and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Vest for the next morning. He thoroughly examined me and his thoughts about the cause were agreed to by my own doctor on a follow up appointment when I arrived back home.”
