Julie Wigton, MD, is one of the remarkable pediatricians practicing at Montgomery Pediatrics, located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Wigton grew up in Northern Kentucky and Anderson Township. She is a proud alumna of the University of Dayton, where she received a double degree in premedical studies and French. She attended medical school at the University of Louisville and completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. She is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
While her husband, Dr. Michael Wigton, was finishing his Orthopedic Residency, she took a position working amongst her mentors and friends as a primary care pediatrician in the office where she trained during residency. They then relocated to North Carolina as her husband completed his fellowship in Hand Surgery. Although her time there was brief, she looks back on it fondly and considers it her home in the South.
Upon joining Montgomery Pediatrics, she knew it was the place where she wanted to settle. The physicians and staff share the same passion for caring for children. They have mutual respect for each other, which fosters a positive work environment and enables MPI to deliver excellent family-centered pediatric medical care.
She has 4 young children – three boys and a girl. With this energetic pack, her current hobbies include learning kickball techniques and navigating sibling dynamics. She has a front row seat to parenting triumphs and challenges. She is a certified Happiest Baby on the Block Educator and enjoys teaching the techniques of how to soothe young babies and promote sleep.
As a pediatrician, she strives to establish open communication and uses her medical knowledge to partner with families to make informed medical decisions. She loves what she does and is honored to be a part of so many children’s and families’ lives.
Dr. Revis is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University for undergraduate studies in Spanish. Upon graduation she moved to Cincinnati with her husband (a Cincinnati native) to attend UC College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
After residency she spent 2 years in Columbus as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University School of Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital (occasionally working with Dr. Smiley there) while her husband completed a fellowship at The Ohio State University.
They moved with their son back to Cincinnati once her husband finished his fellowship, where she worked for Cincinnati Children's Hospital in one of their Primary Care offices for 6 years before starting at Montgomery Pediatrics in late 2018.
Dr. Revis now has 2 children and both keep her busy and on her toes. When not spending time with her family, she likes reading, baking, all things Disney, and learning new things through podcasts while walking the family dog.
Matthew Smiley, DO, is one of the exceptionally skilled pediatricians practicing at Montgomery Pediatrics in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Smiley was born and raised in Michigan but has spent time in Atlanta, Chicago, and Columbus before settling here in Cincinnati. He has adopted the city of Cincinnati and has become an avid Bengals fan! He received his undergraduate degree in business administration from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
After a brief career in human resources consulting, he left the business world to attend medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, where he met his wife. His passion for working with children led him to pursue general pediatrics training at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He spent three years as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University School of Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Smiley loves to watch his patients grow and develop and enjoys helping families navigate the journey of childhood from infancy to adolescence. He has a special interest in helping children and their families build healthy lifestyle habits, specifically healthy nutrition, activity, and sleep habits. Dr. Smiley has worked extensively with children who struggle with excess weight gain to help them create behavioral change goals and develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
Outside of his work at Montgomery Pediatrics, Dr. Smiley enjoys sports, the outdoors, and, most of all, spending time with his wife and two children.
Alison Heffernan, MD, is one of the exceptional pediatricians practicing at Montgomery Pediatrics in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Heffernan was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Louisiana State University for her undergraduate, medical school, and pediatric residency. Dr. Heffernan married her husband, Dr. Ted Heffernan, during medical school and both matched in New Orleans for their residencies. During the three years of her pediatric residency, they welcomed their first daughter and survived Hurricane Katrina. As their home and the city were rebuilt, she completed her residency in 2006.
While her husband, Ted Heffernan, MD, completed his radiology residency, she worked in her first pediatric clinic with the Ochsner Medical System. In 2008, she, her husband, and now two daughters moved to Nashville, Tennessee. There “Dr. Ali” worked in a busy inner-city clinic with Centennial Pediatrics for a year, while Ted completed his fellowship in body imaging at Vanderbilt. In 2009, they moved to Cincinnati and have been here ever since!
Montgomery Pediatrics, Inc. was the perfect match for Dr. Heffernan. After working in two busy, corporate owned clinics, she knew she wanted more autonomy in how she scheduled her patients. Working in a privately owned clinic allowed her to spend more time with her patients and create a schedule that allowed her to care for her patients’ families as well as her own. She loves that general pediatrics offers the opportunity to discuss and treat all aspects of a child’s health.
She welcomed her third daughter into the world in 2012, which completed their family. She wants her patients to feel that she treats them as she would treat her own kids and loves watching them grow over time into their own unique individuals.
Dr. Ali loves pink and flamingos, and you can see her own flock walking down the hallway of the clinic! When she is not working, she loves to spend time with her family, cook delicious Southern food, entertain friends, read, play with her goldendoodle, nap, craft on her Cricut, organize anything she can get her hands on, and attend Pure Barre classes.
Sharon D’Souza, MD, is one of the skilled, compassionate pediatricians practicing at Montgomery Pediatrics in Cincinati, Ohio.
Dr. D’Souza grew up here in Cincinnati and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati. After a year of research in cancer genetics at the University of Cincinnati, she attended Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric residency training at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and has been in General Pediatric practice since graduating from the program in 2000. She joined Montgomery Pediatrics in 2002 after practicing on the west side of Cincinnati for two years.
She and her husband are proud parents of three children. She cherishes her time with her family, and she enjoys traveling, music, reading and cooking.
