Double board-certified pediatrician and internal medicine specialist David Rubio, M.D., F.A.A.P., has cared for patients in Northern Virginia for over two decades. He is part of the Virginia Pediatric Group team and sees patients at the practice’s location in Aldie, Virginia. 

Dr. Rubio was born in Queens, New York, although he considers South Riding, Virginia, his hometown. He completed a six-year biomedical program with Union College in Schenectady, New York, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1987. He completed his medical degree in 1989 at Albany Medical College, also in New York. He then went on to complete his internal medicine/pediatrics residency training in 1993 at the North Shore University Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center in New York. 

Upon residency completion, Dr. Rubio joined the Northern Virginia Primary Care Associates in Annandale until 2008, when he developed and managed his own private pediatrics practice in South Riding. He was board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1994 and recertified in 2003. Dr. Rubio was also board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1994 and recertified in 2016. 

In 2016, Dr. Rubio and his practice joined the Virginia Pediatric Group. He feels it is wonderful to watch the children he's cared for over the years grow and develop. The personal relationships made with families have been extremely rewarding, and he looks forward to doing the same for many years to come. 

Dr. Rubio is fluent in Spanish and resides in South Riding with his wife and three children. In his free time, he enjoys sports and music.

Rebecca Alkire Santos, MD, is a compassionate, board-certified general pediatrician dedicated to providing comprehensive, preventive pediatric care for infants, children, and adolescents. Born in Winchester, Virginia, and raised in West Virginia, Dr. Santos graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Sciences. She earned her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Inova Children’s Hospital. Before joining Virginia Pediatric Group, she spent 14 years in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she helped establish and lead a successful pediatric practice.

Dr. Santos believes that listening closely to children and their families is one of the most important parts of pediatric care. She partners with parents to create personalized, evidence-based care plans focused on prevention, growth, development, and overall wellness. Her approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and centered on meeting each family where they are.

Outside the office, Dr. Santos enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, cheering on Mountaineer football, and making memories with her family and friends.

Kirra L. Brandon, MD is board certified in both dermatology and pediatric dermatology, and provides care to patients of all ages at Easton Dermatology Associates, a leading dermatology practice in Easton, Maryland, that serves residents on the Delmarva Peninsula. Although Dr. Brandon offers medical skin care services to patients of any age, she specializes in pediatric dermatology. Her specific interests include vascular birthmarks, genetic skin disorders, and pediatric skin and laser surgery.

Dr. Brandon obtained her undergraduate degree in biology from Harvard University, where she graduated with honors. She earned her medical degree at the University of Maryland Medical School, which is where she developed her interest in pediatric dermatology. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Tulane Hospital in New Orleans, followed by her residency in dermatology at Louisiana State University, also in New Orleans.

After finishing her residency, Dr. Brandon completed a year-long fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. When her fellowship concluded, Dr. Brandon stayed on at the hospital as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology.

Dr. Brandon is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She’s an active member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, and has spoken at their national meeting, as well as several other regional conferences designed to educate pediatricians about pediatric skin conditions. Dr. Brandon has also authored multiple publications in dermatology and pediatrics journals.

As a native of Annapolis, Maryland, Dr. Brandon was excited to return to the area with her husband, Gus, an ophthalmologist and fellow Maryland native, and their two young daughters. In her spare time, Dr. Brandon enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with her family.
