Originally from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Dr. Phillips studied at Georgetown University, graduating cum laude with a degree in human science. He earned his medical degree from Wright State University, graduating in the top 10% of his class, and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Michigan, followed by fellowship training in chronic and interventional pain at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Prior to joining the International Spine, Pain & Performance Center, Dr. Phillips practiced for four years in Rochester, New York, where he also served as faculty for the Rochester Regional Health PM&R residency program and as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. His clinical interests include interventional spine care and minimally invasive procedures for chronic pain conditions. Dr. Phillips is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based care to help patients achieve lasting pain relief and regain quality of life.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Phillips enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Dr. Lucy Johnson (periodontist), and their Australian Shepherd, Archie.

Jon Mader, MD is the board-certified Medical Director of United Spine and Joint Center, where he provides treatments backed by the latest research supporting spine care and non-opioid options. Dr. Mader attended the University of Wisconsin where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology. He went on to earn his Medical Doctorate at St. George’s University School of Medicine.
This was followed by a prestigious residency at Tufts Medical Center in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. As his interest in spinal treatments deepened, Dr. Mader pursued a fellowship in interventional spinal rehabilitation at the New England Baptist Hospital, part of the renowned Harvard University Care Group. While in his fellowship, he participated in several research projects and obtained extensive training in advanced and minimally invasive spinal disorder treatments.

Ramani Peruvemba, MD, is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both anesthesiology and pain management. He currently sees patients at Pain Management Specialists in Rockville, Maryland and Silver Spring, Maryland.
Dr. Peruvemba is a native of the New York City area. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis and his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla. He then completed an internship in internal medicine at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital (formerly Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester) and an anesthesiology internship at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Afterward, he completed his residency in anesthesiology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and his interventional pain management fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, both in New York City.
After his specialty training, Dr. Peruvemba joined Pain Management Specialists in 2000. Stuart Hough, MD, is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both anesthesiology and pain management. He is proud to provide a wide range of services to patients at Pain Management Specialists in Rockville and Frederick, Maryland.
Dr. Hough earned his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in New York. He then completed his internship in internal medicine at NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, New York. Upon graduating, he completed his anesthesiology residency and his pain management fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. After his specialty training, Dr. Hough served in the United States Air Force (USAF) for three years, where he directed the interventional pain management clinic at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio.
In 2001, Dr. Hough moved home to Maryland to enter private practice and joined Pain Management Specialists.
