Dylan Phillips, MD, is a double board-certified physician in anesthesiology and pain medicine practicing at International Spine Pain & Performance Center, which has offices in Washington, D.C., and Arlington, Virginia. He provides comprehensive interventional pain management care.
Originally from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Dr. Phillips studied at Georgetown University, graduating cum laude with a degree in human science. He earned his medical degree from Wright State University, graduating in the top 10% of his class, and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Michigan, followed by fellowship training in chronic and interventional pain at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Prior to joining the International Spine, Pain & Performance Center, Dr. Phillips practiced for four years in Rochester, New York, where he also served as faculty for the Rochester Regional Health PM&R residency program and as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. His clinical interests include interventional spine care and minimally invasive procedures for chronic pain conditions. Dr. Phillips is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based care to help patients achieve lasting pain relief and regain quality of life.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Phillips enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Dr. Lucy Johnson (periodontist), and their Australian Shepherd, Archie.

Dr. Tkarkal was initially dismissive suggesting previous procedure, outcome not encouraging. Convinced another treatment worth a try. One week hence.

I have 3 compressed vertebrae after jolting horseback rides. The spine specialist at a well-known DC practice diagnosed, gave me meds and basically blew off my questions about exercise and other treatment options. Dr. Thakral was the opposite. He is kind, patient and took all the time I needed to discuss the diagnosis and treatment possibilities. He is just what a doctor should be and the sort you rarely find in this world of rushed 15-minute appointments. Thank you so much for giving me hope and choices.

Good Doctor who is very thorough. I feel as if my health needs are considered and addressed.
Dr. Thakral was able to diagnose correctly a months-long pain issue I was having that had baffled my PCP and an orthopedist. He listens to his patients, he is comforting and hopeful for your full recovery, and he treats patients with respect and care. I have great faith in Dr. Thakral.
