Catherine completed her undergraduate and physician assistant training at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before returning to her home state of Alaska to specialize in colon and rectal surgery. During the early years of her career, Catherine met her husband, an Air Force pilot, and relocated to Washington state, where she continued to specialize in surgery.

Family physician Nicholas Tavani, MD, PhD, leads the team at Battlefield Family Medicine & Weight Management. Dr. Tavani earned his Bachelor of Science at the Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in 1974. Dr. Tavani recieved his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He then completed his internship in family medicine at Providence Hospital through Georgetown University, followed by his residency in family medicine at the University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly. Dr. Tavani later obtained his PhD in Biophysics and Physiology at Georgetown University in 1984.

David Schoenfish is a physician assistant Board Certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). David graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD, during which he was also a member of the USF men’s cross country and track and field teams.
