Kennedy Gombert was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and went to the University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. At the University of Alabama, she was involved in pre-medical societies, club soccer, and her sorority.
After graduating from Alabama in 2020, she moved back to San Antonio and was a medical scribe before attending PA school at West Coast University in Dallas, TX where she earned a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies. During PA school, she developed a passion for surgery and is excited begin her career in orthopedics.
Outside of work, she loves to read, spend time with friends, travel, and cheer on Alabama football (roll tide!)
Dennis DeLeon is a passionate and devoted physical therapist assistant (PTA) at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas, with multiple offices conveniently located in Rockwall, Wylie, Forney, and Terrell, Texas.
He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He relocated to Texas after serving in the United States Air Force (USAF or US Air Force).
Dennis was stationed in Hawaii, North Dakota, Portugal, and Jordan. During his time in the military, Dennis discovered a passion for helping people and wanted to pursue a career that combined this desire to help people with his love for being active.
He received an Associate of Applied Science for Physical Therapist Assistant in 2021 and looks forward to utilizing all he has learned to provide the highest quality patient care.
When not in the clinic, Dennis enjoys lifting heavy weights, watching sports, exploring the great outdoors, and finding the best ramen shops in DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth).
Umar Burney MD, MBA is the founding and managing partner at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas. He is dual board-certified in general orthopaedics and sports medicine surgery.
Dr. Burney was born in Madison, Wisconsin. His parents were both in the teaching profession and taught the importance of learning and education. Living abroad during high school, he had the unique opportunity to graduate with a secondary education certification from the University of Cambridge in England.
He returned to the University of Wisconsin in Madison to complete his undergraduate degree in medical microbiology and immunology with a special interest in communicative diseases of the third world.
Dr. Burney attended Saint George's University School of Medicine in True Blue, Grenada, and joined the Iota Epsilon Alpha International Medical Honors Society his sophomore year. He then completed his internship and orthopaedic surgical residency at Louisiana State University Shreveport, where he received several awards for excellence in basic science research and anatomy.
After graduating from LSU, Dr. Burney completed a sports medicine and joint replacement fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. Leland Winston and Dr. Thomas Clanton at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Burney has served on numerous committees throughout his career. His current roles include Joint Replacement Director and Vice Chair of the Board of Managers at Texas Health Surgery Center of Rockwall. His primary focus is sports medicine and joint replacement.
Dr. Burney is married to Nazlee, an elementary educator, and they share three children. He enjoys philanthropy, family time, traveling, running, and soccer in his spare time.
Dr. Khan is currently a practising Emergency Medicine and Sleep Medicine Physician. He finished his Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, currently being board certified in Sleep Medicine. He finished his residency at LSU Family Medicine program and served as the Chief Resident of Administration 2022-2023. Dr. Khan has a very diverse experience and brings innovative ideas with solutions on the table. Apart from Emergency Medical Care, he also specialises in treating complex sleep disorders in adults and pediatric patients. He has worked in different areas of research, healthcare and advocacy in various parts of the US. He has also served as a Resident delegate for AAFP national conference in 2021 and has established relationships with lawmakers to advocate for public health, Chapter delegate for LAFP in 2021-2023 and Resident alternate member to LAFP Congress of Delegates 2022. He has also been awarded scholarships such as Family Medicine Leads Scholarship, OMS FD Mistry Scholarship and AFMRD Family Medicine Advocacy Summit Scholarship. He also served on the AASM Advocacy committee and is currently a Board of Director of Advocacy for USleep America. He aims to bring positive change to our health care system, make an impact locally and nationally.
Dr Skinner, a life long resident of North Texas, graduated with honors from Abilene Christian University, with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He then attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. Following medical school, he completed a residency in Family Medicine from Texas Tech Health Science Center in Lubbock. Dr Skinner specializes in family medicine, and has experience in advanced wound care and hyperbaric medicine, emergent and urgent care, occupational medicine, and physical medicine and rehab, and esthetics. His goal is to help patients live happy, healthy, active lives at any age by promoting healthy lifestyles. Dr Skinner is married and has three sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, and being involved with his local church community.
