About Dr. Young
As a leader in modern women’s health solutions and a highly regarded gynecologic surgeon, Carolynn Young, MD, is a trusted physician for women of all ages. Dr. Young treats patients at Rockville Gynecology in Rockville, Maryland.
After completing her undergraduate degree, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Young was accepted into medical school. She earned her doctor of medicine from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Young then completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency through Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. She’s currently board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists.
Throughout her career, Dr. Young has gained extensive experience in pelvic floor surgery and minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Young regularly speaks at conferences and teaches her peers about modern surgical procedures and women’s health topics. She has special interests in uterine fibroids, abnormal bleeding, contraception, adolescent gynecology, and abnormal Pap smears.
Dr. Young was even the first physician to perform robotic surgery using the da Vinci® system at the Johns Hopkins Medicine Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, in 2009. She continues to utilize the da Vinci system to perform hysterectomy, myomectomy, resection of endometriosis, and removal of ovarian cyst procedures.
Outside of Rockville Gynecology, Dr. Young serves as the co-director of the Robotic Surgery Steering Committee at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. Because of her expertise and dedication to patient care, Dr. Young was recognized as the Top Doctor in the Washingtonian magazine every year since 2015.

Dr. Leonard Bienkowski provides gynecology services to patients in Frederick, Mount Airy & Urbana, Maryland. He is a member of the staff at Capital Women’s Care.
Dr. Bienkowski earned his medical degree at the Academy of Medicine in Wroclaw, Poland, where he graduated in 1982. Dr. Bienkowski later completed his residency at St. Agnes Hospital and the University of Maryland Hospital in 1986. Although he has studied all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology during his career, his primary areas of interest include endometrial ablation, natural hormone therapy, and menopause. Tushar Shetty, MD joined the team at Capital Women's Care Frederick in 2024. Raised in Metro Detroit, Dr. Shetty completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Science in both Neuroscience and Spanish in 2014. He then worked as a secondary education teacher through Teach for America in Southwest Detroit. Through that experience, he gained an interest in health education, especially in teen pregnancy as the school accommodated pregnant students. This brought him to medicine, where he completed his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2020, further growing his passion for women's health. He stayed in Detroit to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Detroit Medical Center - Hutzel Women's Hospital in 2024.
Dr. Shetty is passionate about holistic obstetric and gynecologic care, offering comprehensive services and acute care. He is training in minimally invasive surgery. His interests include uterine fibroids management and contraceptive care. He understands his unique position as a provider allows him to serve as an advocate for women, and aspires to provide longitudinal care from adolescence to post-menopause. Dr. Renee Thomas-Spencer provides obstetric and gynecology services to patients in Mount Airy and Frederick, Maryland. She is an experienced physician and a member of the staff at Capital Women’s Care.
Dr. Thomas-Spencer earned a bachelor’s of science degree in biology from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she graduated in 1993. Dr. Thomas-Spencer also served in the 2290th United States Army Reserves Unit during the Desert Storm War in 1991.
After receiving her undergraduate degree, Dr. Thomas-Spencer went to medical school at Howard University College of Medicine, where she graduated in 1999. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Morehouse School of Medicine and Grady Memorial Hospital in 2003.
Dr. Thomas-Spencer’s areas of interest include laparoscopic procedures, minimally-invasive procedures, and adolescent gynecology. She’s Board Certified from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Thomas-Spencer is married and has 1 daughter. She grew up in Frederick, Maryland, and she is excited and proud to be practicing medicine in her hometown.

Eva Pickler, MD, FACOG, joined Capital Women’s Care (Division 33) in Frederick in May 2024. A native of North Carolina, Dr. Pickler received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University. She also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After a career in the corporate world, Dr. Pickler went on to earn her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1998 and completed her residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee in 2002. She remained in Johnson City for fourteen years in private practice before relocating to northern Virginia. She has been an obstetric hospitalist at Frederick Health Hospital since 2017.
Dr. Pickler is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Her practice with Capital Women’s Care is focused on caring for the obstetric patient in the hospital setting and performing urgent gynecologic surgeries as needed.
Dr. Pickler is married and has a menagerie of animals. She believes in striving for your goals, one of which she completed for herself in 2021 when she summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. In her spare time, she enjoys personal fitness, steeplechase horse racing, and travel, including a yearly trip to Guatemala for medical missions.
