Dr. Heather Kornmehl joined Texas Skin Center in 2024. She received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, after completing her residency training as a Dermatologist; she practiced Dermatology in the Houston area before entering a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery. She is highly skilled in treating all conditions of the skin & nails (medical dermatology) and the gold-standard surgical micrographic removal of skin cancers (Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma & Melanoma). She has extensive training in this surgical technique which is tissue-sparing and provides patients with a 95-99% cure rate and the best cosmetic outcome possible. At Texas Skin Center Dr. Kornmehl offers her skills in General Dermatology, and Surgery to patients in the greater Houston area. She is experienced in clinical research and public speaking. When not at work, Dr. Kornmehl enjoys spending time with her husband and children, enjoying the outdoors and the Houston culinary scene. Dr. Whitney Latin is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of
Dermatology.

Dr. Latin received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Brown University. She then earned her
medical degree from The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where she received
the Deans Fellowship award and a Distinction in Community Health. After an internship in Internal
Medicine at NYU Long Island Hospital, she completed her dermatology residency at the Icahn School of
Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where she served as dermatology Chief Resident.
Throughout her training, Dr. Latin has worked on a variety of research projects and has contributed to
posters and peer-reviewed publications on various dermatological conditions including psoriasis and
skin cancer.

Dr. Latin’s clinical interests include inflammatory skin diseases, acne, hair loss, and pigmentary
disorders. She seeks to improve and maintain the health and beauty of her patient’s skin and hair by

Dr. Egesi is the owner of Humble Dermatology and was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston with a BSc. in Biology and was inducted into the Golden Key Honor Society. She earned a chance at the internationally recognized Baylor College of Medicine for her medical education where she also graduated top of her class. She completed her internship and residency in dermatology at the University of Cincinnati and served as chief resident and became a board-certified dermatologist. Living in Ohio afforded her the pleasure of the breathtaking beauty of the four seasons in their climate and how to survive the winter among other things. She moved back home after her residency to Humble, Texas to become the first dermatologist to practice in the area. Dr. Egesi also received her MBA from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. She is an expert in all aspects of dermatology including medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology with special interest and highly skilled in the treatment alopecia (hair loss) and complex dermatological cases. Jacqueline Witt, MD, FAAD, serves patients of all ages at Elite Dermatology in Fulshear, Texas, providing medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology care.

Dr. Witt grew up in Longwood, Florida, and moved to New Orleans for her undergraduate studies at Tulane University. She subsequently graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. At Tulane, Dr. Witt completed an internal medicine internship and dermatology residency and served as Chief Resident in her final year. She received extensive training in complex medical dermatology and surgical dermatology, as well as robust cosmetic training, including the use of dermal fillers and neurotoxins. Dedicated to the advancement of dermatology, Dr. Witt served as a resident member on the American Academy of Dermatology’s Educational Committee and a resident liaison to the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. Trissa Connors, M.D. serves patients at Elite Dermatology in Fulshear providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic care. She is passionate about working alongside her patients to develop individualized treatment plans based on their unique goals.

Dr. Connors was born in Portland, Oregon, but she spent her formative years on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Her father’s work as a botanist took the family all around the world, including a year spent living in Thailand while she was in high school.

After graduating from high school, Dr. Connors moved to the mainland where she completed her undergraduate work at the University of San Francisco. After graduating with honors, an opportunity arose for her to move to Texas for medical school. She got here as fast as she could and hasn’t looked back!

Dr. Connors attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where she graduated with High Honors and was elected a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. During her medical training she additionally completed a Masters in Public Health through The University of Texas School of Public Health where her focus was on the impact of the environment and environmental exposures on health. She is the author of numerous publications and has presented at several academic conferences.

Dr. Connors feels honored to care for her patients and is grateful for the opportunity to become a part of their lives. She has a special interest in the intersection of dermatology and women’s health, but she enjoys caring for patients of all ages and genders with a wide variety of dermatologic conditions.

Suzanne Alkul, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon serving patients at the Fulshear, Vintage Park and River Oaks locations. She is an expert in surgical and non-surgical treatment of skin cancer and removal of benign growths. She is passionate about treating the skin, and carefully follows her patients from the first visit to the final cure. Dr. Alkul completed a preliminary year in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a dermatology residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She is currently pursuing advanced training as a Mohs Micrographic surgeon and serves on the board of directors for the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

 

Dr. Alkul is a native Texan, born and raised in Lubbock. She received her B.S. in biochemistry and M.D. from Texas Tech University. As an undergraduate student, she maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated summa cum laude as Valedictorian of her class. She first discovered her passion for dermatology and skin surgery during medical school while providing high quality skin care at no cost and securing generous grants for medication and high-tech dermatological equipment for the Lubbock Impact Free Clinic. During her time in medical school, Dr. Alkul played a vital role as a Dean’s ambassador and Admissions Committee member, selecting and shaping future generations of physicians. She also served as president of the prestigious honor society Alpha Omega Alpha and was nominated and selected by her peers for the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

 

Dr. Alkul is an innovator in her field, and attends local and national dermatology conferences to stay current on the newest skin cancer treatment and advances in surgical reconstruction. She has authored numerous articles and presents her research at these meetings. She has done research on post-operative complications and how they are influenced by pre-operative hypertension and anticoagulation. She has also researched ways to reduce the pain and anxiety associated with anesthetic injections prior to surgery in order to maximize patient comfort. 

 

In her spare time, Dr. Alkul enjoys exploring local farmer’s markets and coffee shops, baking scones with her family, and keeping up to date with Formula 1 racing .

Jeremiah Au, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon at ALLUSTRA DERMATOLOGY. He specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery, skin cancer treatment, and reconstructive surgery, providing advanced, precise care for patients diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, and other forms of skin cancer.

Dr. Au graduated with honors from Boston College, earning a degree in Biology and induction into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh before completing his dermatology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he served as co-chief resident. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at Indiana University under nationally recognized surgeon Dr. Ally-Khan Somani.

A native Houstonian, Dr. Desai completed his undergraduate education at the University of Houston, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in only three years. During medical school, he was involved in multiple dermatologic research teams at Columbia Medical School in New York City and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Finally, he completed his dermatology and surgical fellowship in southern California.

Dr. Desai won several awards for his research as a distinguished resident. He also lectured at several dermatologic conferences across the United States and internationally. He is recognized for his strong academic work, placing second in the nation on a dermatologic in-service exam amongst all residents in the country.

Dr. Desai enrolled in a one-year fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and facial reconstruction at Loma Linda University in California. He trained with the former Co-Chairman of Dermatology at Harvard University. Dr. Desai served as the Loma Linda Melanoma Tumor Board coordinator from 2007-2008, where difficult-to-treat cases were deferred to him and his colleagues.

An author in his own right, Dr. Desai wrote a plethora of scholarly articles in leading dermatology journals. In addition, he authored three chapters in two major dermatology textbooks. Many of the chapters focus on ethics and legality in the practice of dermatology. It comes as no surprise that he is an expert consultant to review dermatologic malpractice cases in Texas.

An adjunct professor of Western University of Health Sciences located in Pomona, CA, Dr. Desai serves as an integral part of second-year medical students’ curriculum. He continues to mentor students all over the nation. He is currently involved in multiple community outreach programs, where he performs skin exams for different groups of people, from local firefighters and police officers to professional athletes. 

He has consulted several Anaheim Angels baseball players during Spring Training while in Southern California and participated in international mission trips to the outskirts of the Amazon rain forest located near Quito, Ecuador.

Jennifer Martin, MD, serves patients in Pearland, Texas as a dermatologist at Elite Dermatology. She offers medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatological services with emphasis on both adult and pediatric dermatology.

Dr. Martin grew up in North Florida. She has always been an exceptional student, starting early when she was elected to the Cambridge University International School program while in high school. After which, she received a full scholarship to the University of Central Florida with a double major in Microbiology & Molecular biology and Mathematics.

She continued at the University of Central Florida for medical school where she graduated in the top 10% of her class. During her time there, she was elected as “Chief Peer Academic Coach,” heading a tutoring and mentoring program for underclassmen. A 5th generation Texan, Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs graduated summa cum laude from Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio with a degree in chemistry. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed residencies in Family Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville and in Dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She is board certified in Dermatology.

Dr. Sekula-Gibbs has over 30 years of experience in general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.  She enjoys sharing her expertise with patients to help them optimize the health and appearance of their skin, hair and nails. 

Dr. Sekula-Gibbs served as a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine where she taught residents and medical students and cared for patients at Ben Taub Hospital. She was honored to be elected president of the Houston Dermatological Society and the Texas Dermatological Society. She has served on the Advisory Board of the American Academy of Dermatology and held leadership roles in numerous professional organizations. 
Dr. Shelley is a Red Cross shelter volunteer and serves on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors. In her free time, she enjoys being with family and friends.

He completed his dermatology residency training at the MD Anderson Cancer Center/University of Texas McGovern Medical School combined program and his Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology (Mohs) fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He was the winner of the Review Article Incentive Program awarded by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) during his time as a dermatology resident. His fellowship training focused on Mohs micrographic surgery, advanced reconstruction, and clinical research in cutaneous oncology. He was the sub-investigator of various clinical trials that evaluated the use of hedgehog pathway inhibitor and immunotherapy for advanced nonmelanoma skin cancer. Dr. Chen’s deep passion for skin cancer has led him to author more than 30 peer-reviewed research manuscripts and numerous book chapters. His research has been presented at national and international dermatology meetings. He is also the editor of the textbook Basal Cell Carcinoma: Advances in Treatment and Research.

Dr. Chen is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American College of Mohs surgery, American Medical Association, and Texas Medical Association.

In his free time, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time with his wife, Patty, and two young boys, Levi and Luke. He is also an avid sports fan who follows the Rockets, the Texans, the Astros as well as sports teams from his alma mater Texas Longhorns.
