I have worked as a therapist since 2017, when I graduated with a master’s degree in social work and am a LICSW. I am finishing up a PhD in Social Work, where I research various things, including exploring the trauma experience for women in patriarchal cultures relating to betrayal trauma, how using EMDR therapy modalities affects therapeutic outcomes with individuals with complex trauma, eating disorder policy development, and the variables that relate to individuals pursuing and obtaining higher education, among other research topics. I have worked in several residential treatment centers with substance abuse and eating disorders, outpatient therapy, and Emergency Room Crisis settings.
I specialize in complex trauma, trauma from narcissistic abuse, attachment trauma and complicated relationships with family, crisis interventions, substance abuse, post-divorce depression, betrayal trauma, and eating disorders. I use the therapeutic modalities of person-centered approach, EMDR, and talk therapy modalities such as CBT and DBT, that allow one to show up wherever they are in their healing journey. I enjoy implementing movement into therapy, such as walk-talk therapy, which works like a teletherapy functional EMDR as each foot hits the ground while walking and this creates emotional engagement and an REM cycle like neuroplasticity as the right and left sides of the brain unite emotion and logic to a stressor, as well as EMDR with eye movement, with telehealth technology if that is the preferred method of EMDR trauma processing.
I understand that it is painful to live with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, difficulty sleeping, unhealthy coping skills, despair, and to cope with trauma memories and difficult people in your life, and everyone needs a safe space to process and talk about these complicated experiences and implement healthy coping while making sense and coming to peace with your stories and complex people in your life. I will hear your story and help you to come to your truth and ownership of your healing as you brave authenticity and assertive boundaries to prioritize your values.
