My background consists of working at Unity Point Cedar Rapids in the operating room, intensive care unit and cardiology clinic. After leaving Unity Point, I continued my career at Linn County Public Health working in the lead poisoning prevention program as well as becoming a certified asthma educator.
I believe that there are multiple areas that contribute to overall health. Physical, mental, environmental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being all come into play when talking about wellness. My focus is to offer an approach to care that takes all facets of a patient’s life into account, not just the physical body.
I decided to pursue my degree as a family nurse practitioner because I like to build relationships with patients and work with them throughout the lifespan. I strive to help patients set goals and develop plans that fit their lifestyle. I enjoy working toward these goals with them and celebrating successes together.
I always strive to put my patients first. I have been in practice for 8 years. I have experience with acute care, chronic care, weight loss, hormone replacement therapy, and aesthetics.
“I had a video consult today with Shannon Braslavsky, She listened to my symptoms, made recommendation's, and prescribed the Meds I needed . Quick personable. and painless.”
I am a dually certified Nurse Practitioner. I graduated from Allen College in 2013 with a Master's in Nursing and 2014 with a post Master's Certificate. I am board certified in Family Practice and Adult Gerontology Acute Care. I am able to care for all ages of the life spectrum. I have a special interest in Adolescent Medicine. I have experiences in almost all areas of medicine. My experiences as a Nurse Practitioner include Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Gynecology Oncology, Family Practice, Endocrinology, Mental Health, and Adolescent Medicine. Prior to becoming a NP, I worked at St. Luke's hospital as a critical care nurse on the cardiothoracic/general med surg floor, heart center for cardiac caths, part of the code team, and admission center for 13 years. Following that I worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a critical care float nurse in all areas of the hospital except pediatrics. My critical care experience was vital in my becoming a NP.
“When I call her she will see me right away even if she is not opened. She explains everything so I understand it. And is always wanting a follow up to make sure I'm feeling better.”
