Dr. Ashraf Salem (Ash) is the Founder, President and Chief Medical Officer of BKUC. At BKUC, Ash overseas our clinical processes and continuous improvement required to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients. Dr. Salem graduated, Summa Cum Laude, from Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at CCNY and attended medical school at Mount Sinai. After graduating he went on to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine at Brooklyn Hospital Center and was Board Certified in 2004. He continued to practice emergency medicine and became an Assistant Professor at Kings County/SUNY Downstate from 2003-2009. Dr. Salem founded Brooklyn Urgent Care in 2006.

Sherifa Julien-Johnson, PA, is a highly experienced, board-certified Physician Assistant at University Reproductive Associates, which has locations in Hasbrouck Heights, Hoboken, Wayne, Millburn, and Denville, New Jersey, and Goshen, New York. 

Sherifa specializes in reproductive endocrinology and is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from The College of New Jersey and a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Seton Hall University, School of Health and Medical Sciences.

With 15 years of dedicated experience in women’s health, Sherifa has found her passion in guiding patients through the complex journey of fertility care and has been practicing in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility since 2011. She works closely with her patients, providing both initial and follow-up consultations and performing procedures such as saline sonograms, intrauterine inseminations (IUIs), endometrial biopsies, and ultrasounds.

Sherifa is deeply committed to supporting her patients through every step of their reproductive health journey, ensuring they feel informed, cared for, and empowered.

Nicola Pemberton, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist at Artemis OB/GYN in Union, New Jersey. She is the medical director of Artemis OB/GYN and The Birth Center of New Jersey. She specializes in obstetrics, reproductive endocrinology, and benign adult and adolescent gynecology.

Dr. Pemberton has been featured in the NY Times Metro section as well as CBS Evening News, NJ News 12, Cosmopolitan.com, and as a panelist for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center's Annual Women's Day conference. Dr. Pemberton completed her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Miami in Florida before moving to the West Indies for two years to attend the St. George’s University School of Medicine in True Blue, Grenada. For her third year of medical school, she did her clinical rotations in England, including a neuroscience selective in the Czech Republic.

She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey, where she was recognized for her resident teaching and given a faculty position at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York City, where she also served as a clinical assistant professor at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. 

Dr. Pemberton is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her training includes general laparoscopic and robotic gynecology surgery for procedures such as myomectomy, hysterectomy, and ovarian pathology. She performs numerous in-office procedures, including endometrial ablation, cryosurgery, colposcopy, and cone biopsies. 

A native New Yorker who is now happy to call New Jersey home, Dr. Pemberton lives in the West Orange area with her husband and three children.

Casandra is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner in family medicine. She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2020. She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from SUNY EmpireState College and a master's degree from Mount Saint Mary College as a family nurse practitioner. Casandra has worked in critical care, emergency medicine, and surgerical services for over 30 years. During her time spent in the acute care setting, she developed a desire to help patients with their health before they fall ill. Casandra has a special interest in integrative health, anti-aging medicine, hormone replacement therapy, and weight loss with a focus on peptide therapy.
