As a RN she worked as a charge nurse in the neuro intensive care unit as well as a critical care nurse before receiving her MSN from Florida National University. She then went on to complete neuromuscular fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Kurako is passionate about educating future physicians as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Florida State University College of Medicine as well as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Central Florida. She has also contributed to the development of competency restoration programs in Broward and Palm Beach Counties and published a Springer book chapter on cultural considerations in sex trafficking.
