Dr. Conners was born and raised in Southern California but lived in the Las Vegas area for eight years during medical school and residency. Prior to medical school she worked at an elementary school as a teacher’s assistant, and also worked as an MCAT inorganic chemistry teacher and tutor.
She attended Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson, NV, where she graduated in the top quartile of her class. She was an active member of many clubs and volunteered with several organizations. Afterwards, she completed her four-year neurology residency at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas and served as chief resident her last year. During residency, she first-authored three papers and is a co-author on another. She also served on the hospital’s ethics committee.
After graduating from residency, she completed a fellowship in epilepsy at the University of Southern California, where she specialized in the management of medically-refractory epilepsy. She gained significant experience in managing an epilepsy monitoring unit as well as determining surgical options to treat epilepsy in those who continue to have seizures despite taking seizure medications. She presented cases to approximately two dozen physicians (epileptologists, neuroradiologists, and neurosurgeons) at Keck multidisciplinary epilepsy surgical conferences several times per month during fellowship, and hopes to continue participating in those conferences after fellowship.
After fellowship, she returned to the Las Vegas area because she enjoyed working with the wonderful neurologists at Las Vegas Neurology Center and had enjoyed her time in Las Vegas in the past. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, running, and gardening. She is currently preforming research on the compliance rates of epilepsy safety precautions in hopes to guide physicians on how to better counsel their patients on these important recommendations. She has special interests in the safety and improving the quality of lives of those who live with epilepsy.
