Peter Jeppson, MD, FACOG, FACS, was raised in Bountiful, Utah. He attended Utah State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He then graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri, followed by residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Following residency, he completed three additional years of fellowship training to acquire advanced expertise in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, colloquially called Urogynecology, at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Jeppson is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and sub-specialty certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (FPRMS). In addition, he is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He worked at University of New Mexico from 2013 – 2022, serving as the Director of the Division of Urogynecology from 2016 – 2022.

Dr. Jeppson has been very involved in several national and international organizations and has published over 50 research articles in prestigious scientific journals on the treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Many of these research articles were selected as required reading for physicians practicing in the US to maintain board certification. Dr. Jeppson is a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology which is the exam for practicing gynecologists in the US to become board certified, as well as a board examiner for FPMRS board certification. Both are markers of excellence and demonstrate commitment to the highest and most current standards of care.

Dr. Jeppson is currently an associate professor with dual appointment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, and the University of New Mexico where he teaches fellows, residents, and medical students. He has planned several national meetings and workshops to teach surgical skills to providers, with attendees from throughout North America and the world. Dr. Jeppson was recently awarded a multimillion-dollar grant to directly compare treatment options for the treatment of Urgency Urinary Incontinence. He will retain his affiliation with UNM through 2027 to help oversee and complete this research study.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Jeppson has traveled to Rwanda as part of a surgical team to help treat women suffering from pelvic fistula as a result of complications from childbirth. In this role, he provides direct patient care to women that would not otherwise have access to treatment, thereby restoring quality of life and allowing them to reintegrate into society. While in Rwanda, he also teaches students, residents, and doctors on the best practices to treat fistula, which generally requires complex surgical planning.

Dr. Jeppson has extensive experience treating pelvic floor disorders including urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. In addition, he is experienced in treating complicated issues following prior surgeries such as fistula, or issues associated with pelvic mesh. He was Recognized as one of Albuquerque’s “Top Doctors” in Albuquerque The Magazine in 2022, 2020, 2019, 2017, and 2015. He is excited to bring his expertise to Phoenix and help patients while working at The Woman’s Center.

Outside of work, Dr. Jeppson enjoys spending time with his family. He has been married to his wife, Lori, for 20+ years and they have two rapidly growing boys. When he’s not at the baseball diamond cheering on his kids, Dr. Jeppson can be found swimming laps at the local pool. He loves traveling with his family, including an annual trip to Island Park, Idaho and Yellowstone National Park.

Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, where his father served as a United States Air Force pilot, Dr. Stratford and his family moved to Ogden, Utah, when he was a young boy. “I'm not going to lie, I was quite nervous about coming in for this appointment, regarding a bladder issue. I have always been relatively healthy and it just made me a little bit concerned. But I must say that Dr. Stratford and everyone in the office with whom I had contact made the experience comfortable, informed, and natural. I appreciated the way Dr. Stratford spoke to me, explained procedures, made eye contact, had options, and after the exam, spoke with me in his office rather than just giving information in the exam room. His resident, Dr. Garcia, was also amazing and I really appreciated er bedside manner and her ability to interpret what I was trying to say and then give me feedback. She communicated well and helped me feel comfortable. I Also appreciated being able to put my information in the portal beforehand and also that they were willing to accept my list that I had typed out with surgical procedures and so forth from my past. Afterward, whenever I needed to get instructions about some at home procedures, I was given great instructions and an opportunity to ask questions for clarification. I especially appreciate Liz and Rachel for being so professional and personable.”
