Mio Sawai, MD, FACOG, is a skilled and passionate OB/GYN at NY Midtown OB/GYN. Dr. Sawai provides high-quality care from offices in midtown Manhattan, New York City and the town of Mamaroneck in Westchester County, New York.
She previously trained in Japan, where in addition to practicing OB/GYN, she experienced the fields of pediatrics, neonatal ICU, medicine, emergency medicine, radiology, and anesthesia. She chose to practice general OB/GYN to serve women throughout their adult lives.
Dr. Sawai found her strongest interests lie in high-risk pregnancies and ultimately pursued training in the United States. Much of her research has been on high-risk pregnancies, and she received the prestigious Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) Resident Award for Excellence in Obstetrics.

Dr. Deirdre Johnson Gundy is a board-certified gynecologist with over 30 years of experience. A graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine, she completed her residency at prestigious institutions including the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Deirdre Johnson Gundy previously served as an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Drexel University College of Medicine and led the implementation of a minimally invasive gynecologic surgery program at Mercy Philadelphia Hospital in 2012. She is passionate about training the next generation of physicians and has mentored numerous residents in advanced surgical techniques.
Dr. Deirdre Johnson Gundy is committed to providing comprehensive women's healthcare, focusing on the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of her patients. Her areas of expertise include adolescent gynecology, fibroid treatment, PCOS, and minimally invasive procedures. Olga Tusheva, MD, is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist at K&K OB-GYN and Cosmetics, which serves the residents of the New York City area, out of their clinics in Midtown East and Downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY. Shira Plonka is a board certified Genetic Counselor at ROSH Maternal Fetal Medicine. Additionally, she is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC); she earned her Master of Science in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College. Prior to receiving her master’s, Shira received an honors degree in psychology and social work from University of Waterloo. Shira has held internships in many of New York City’s top hospitals, acquiring a broad exposure to many disciplines and specialties, including cancer and pediatric genetics.
Shira focuses on preconception and prenatal genetic counseling: carrier screening, prenatal genetic screening and diagnostic testing. She provides information about the risks of chromosome abnormalities, birth defects, genetic conditions, and teratogen exposure to individuals, couples or families. Shira is committed to informing patients about potential genetic risks, enabling them to make informed decisions for a current or future pregnancy in a supportive and non-directive environment. Dr. Marjon Mobasseri grew up in Ohio and graduated from Case Western Reserve University where she studied Biomedical Engineering. She earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine, after which she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.
In addition to providing the full range of obstetric and gynecologic services, Dr. Mobasseri is active in research and community wellness projects. With each patient visit she strives to provide an environment of comfort and cooperation, and she looks forward to delivering optimal care to you.
In her free time, Dr. Mobasseri enjoys spending time with family and traveling. In addition to English, she is fluent in Persian.
Daniel F. Roshan, MD, FACOG, FACS, specializes in maternal-fetal medicine, demonstrating an expertise in high-risk pregnancies that’s well known in New York City and beyond, as women needing chorionic villus sampling are referred to him from across the country. He truly considers it an honor to take exceptional care of his patients with high-risk pregnancies at his practice, Rosh Maternal & Fetal Medicine in the Midtown East area of New York City.
Dr. Roshan specializes in recurrent pregnancy losses, preterm labor, multiple pregnancies, thrombophilia and pregnancy, and performing cerclage procedures. He also offers experienced medical care for women faced with chronic disease during pregnancy.
After receiving his medical degree from Tel Aviv University, Dr. Roshan then received residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn and completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He’s board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Roshan has published over 50 research abstracts and presented original research papers at numerous scientific societies such as: The Society for Gynecological Investigation, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine.
Ellen received her undergraduate degree in molecular biology from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. She earned her masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
Upon completing a post graduate Emergency Department Fellowship, she transitioned into OBGYN to follow her passion for Obstetrics and Women's Health. She places emphasis on health education, preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment of women to have a positive impact on their lives.
Ellen is originally from Upstate New York. In her free time she enjoys playing field hockey, hiking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family.
Dr. John Migotsky is a Board-certified OB/GYN, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He comes to ROSH Maternal-Fetal medicine with 16 years of experience. After graduating from Brown University with a degree in neuroscience, Dr. Migotsky conducted research in maternal/child health and perinatal epidemiology with the Rhode Island Department of Health. He received his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Then he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY. Prior to his work with ROSH, he worked in private practice in Westchester, NY and was affiliated with Greenwich Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. John Migotsky is committed to providing high-quality care to patients by listening to their concerns, addressing their needs and providing insightful remedies and recommendations. He has delivered thousands of babies including many vaginal births after Cesarean section (VBAC). His team approach encompasses gynecologic oncology, infertility and urogynecology. In addition, he has comprehensive experience performing gynecologic surgery. His warm and sensitive care insures a successful outcome.
A Board Certified and trained expert in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Infertility, Gynecologic tumors, female urinary problems, and Cosmetic surgery. Dr. Khoury started his medical career with “Honors and Distinction” and graduated medical school in 1997. He completed his training in Lutheran Medical Center, a regional trauma center and an affiliate of the State University of New York. He graduated in 2003 as Chief resident in OB/GYN with comprehensive experience in laparoscopic, vaginal, reconstructive pelvic, and Gynecologic Oncology surgery. Dr. Khoury then joined the faculty of Lutheran Medical Center where he performed thousands of deliveries and surgical procedures and managed a large volume of high-risk and complicated cases and was directly involved in residents’ education and training.
Dr. Khoury believes that women's expectations are only limited by their doctor's capabilities. He took on the challenge and seeked training and guidance from the pioneers that influenced the practice of medicine in recent years. This journey granted him a leading position among the first group of physicians trained by the renowned founder of the International Society of Cosmeto-Gynecology, Dr. Marco Pelosi II. Dr. Khoury then joined the American Society of Cosmetic Surgery and was chosen among a special class of experts to be personally trained by Dr. Jeffrey Klein the inventor of Liposuction under local anesthesia.
Dr. Khoury continues this lifetime journey of education and achievements to provide his patients with tremendous experience, care, and compassion.
I graduated from the Midwifery Program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Prior to becoming a midwife, I was an Ob/Gyn sonographer. Upon graduation from Downstate, I received multiple awards for dedication and perseverance to the Midwifery Program. I worked for a very busy private Ob Gyn practice in the last three years and will continue to be determined and dedicated to keeping the well-being of women, their babies and family members foremost in my mind.
Dr. Kakossian graduated Medical School with Honors and Distinction in 1991. She completed an exchange fellowship program at Columbia University, NY in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She graduated as Chief resident in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Lutheran Medical Center, NY.
Dr. Kakossian has done extensive research in Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic Surgery for different gynecologic conditions and produced many publications in this field. She was trained by and operated with the professor and founder of Laparoscopic Surgery Dr. H. Reich at Columbia University, NY. She lectured at International Conferences of Gynecologic Surgeons in Las Vegas, Miami, Montreal, and Atlanta and demonstrated the latest advances in Laparoscopic surgery in Moscow, Russia.
Women’s Health has always been of primary interest of Dr. Kakossian. She created the most rewarding private practice where she enjoys a special bond with her patients while caring for them through pivotal moments of their lives. Melissa Taylor-Giorlando, MD, FACOG is a Connecticut native, having grown up in Easton and Trumbull. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience and Behavior from Columbia University.
She graduated from the Yale School of Medicine in 2017. During medical school, she received an award recognizing excellence in Ob/Gyn and outstanding biomedical research. She completed her residency at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was drawn to Obstetrics and Gynecology due to its wide breadth and opportunity for a close personal connection with her patients. Adam Ofer, MD, FACOG, is regionally recognized as an expert in gynecology and minimally invasive surgical techniques. A board-certified physician at Avery Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Ofer treats patients from puberty through their childbearing years and well past menopause, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients of all ages.
While Dr. Ofer provides a full range of OB/GYN services, he specializes in pelvic reconstruction and other minimally invasive surgeries, including laparoscopic and da VinciⓇ procedures. He heads the practice’s Bladder Dysfunction Program and has expertise in treating overactive bladder, urinary stress incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. Dr. Ofer is also a nationally-recognized expert in hereditary cancers and has published on the topic. He provides care to many women who carry high-risk cancer genes.
Dr. Ofer also specializes in cosmetic procedures and sexual enhancement. He uses techniques like labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, perineoplasty, and clitoroplasty to enhance sexual function and satisfaction and to make aesthetic improvements. Dr. Ofer earned his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University before starting medical school at the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Syracuse. He completed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Dr. Ofer is a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also affiliated with numerous medical associations and societies.
Amalia Kotlyar, MD, is excited to join the Avery Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology and focus on patient-centered, empathetic care in an intimate private practice setting.
When it comes to obstetrics, Dr. Kotlyar provides an individualized approach to pregnancy and birth experience. She believes in shared decision-making and empowering patients through information. She has a special interest in breastfeeding.
Dr. Kotlyar is devoted to caring for women of all stages. She enjoys adolescent gynecology and provides her youngest patients with a supportive environment to start their gynecologic care. She is passionate about reproductive choice and has expertise in comprehensive family planning, including complex contraception and permanent sterilization. She also enjoys caring for women during the transition to menopause and helps her patients optimize health and wellbeing during this time.
Additionally, Dr. Kotlyar has an interest in minimally invasive surgery, including vaginal, laparoscopic and robotic cases. She has earned certifications in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery as well as DaVinci Robotic Surgery. She has published on enhanced recovery after minimally invasive surgery in which patients are able to recuperate comfortably at home, rather than in the hospital, after their procedure. Dr. Kotlyar enjoys working with patients to determine an individualized approach to managing fibroids and adenomyosis, including both medical and surgical methods.
Dr. Kotlyar earned her medical degree from University of California – San Francisco. She completed residency at New York University Langone Medical Center. Outside of the office, Dr. Kotlyar cherishes the time she spends with her family.

Elizabeth Nadal, DO, joined the Avery Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2019. She is proud to partner with women in their healthcare from the practice’s locations in Westport, Fairfield, and Norwalk, Connecticut.
Dr. Nadal completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University, where she received a Bachelor of Science. In 2014, she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at New York College. She went on to complete her residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and continued her experience with a focus on labor and delivery. Dr. Nadal also specialized in pelvic surgery and in-office procedures.
In addition to her focused research on endometrial cancer and maternal complications, Dr. Nadal received an award of Excellence in Laparoscopy during her time at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Caitlin Myers has been an OB/GYN PA since 2013 when she graduated from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She has 9 years of inpatient OB/GYN experience in the NYC hospital system. Caitlin is a lifelong Norwalk resident and is excited to be back practicing in the community she lives in. She offers a full range of OB/GYN services, with a special interest in high-risk pregnancies and adolescents.
In her free time, Caitlin enjoys spending time outdoors with her two children, traveling, and trying out the newest restaurants in town.
Amy Serrano is a certified Physician Assistant who was born and raised in Trumbull. She attended Loyola University Maryland for her undergraduate studies and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Amy attended Pace University in New York City and received her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies. After graduating, she began her career as a PA in OB/GYN at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She gained experience in working with both obstetric patients on Labor and Delivery, as well as caring for patients admitted to the GYN service and first assisting in the operating room for gynecologic procedures.
Amy moved back to Connecticut with her family and continues to practice her love of women’s health with the Avery Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology. She enjoys taking care of patients of all ages.
Robert Berg, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist at Arcadia Ob/Gyn, with New York City offices in the Koreatown neighborhood of Manhattan and Flushing in Queens, New York. He is an experienced woman’s health practitioner who provides care for women throughout all stages of their life. Unlike many other women’s health specialists in the area practicing at academic medical centers, Dr. Berg doesn’t just deliver babies or do surgery.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine from New York Medical College in Valhalla, Dr. Berg completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at New York University Medical Center in Manhattan.
As a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Berg brings the highest credentials, education, and care to each of his patients, and utilizes advanced tools and techniques, including robotic surgery with the da Vinci® surgical system. He also enjoys sharing his skills and knowledge and is very involved in physician training.
