Dr. Tonnos obtained his bachelor’s degree in biological science from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, completing his program with honors. He continued his education, receiving his Doctor of Orthopaedic Medicine at Michigan State University in East Lansing, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency from the same institution where he earned resident of the year.
The Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons of Northern California recognized Dr. Tonnos’ talents and brought him to the team as a fellow. Dr. Tonnos returned to Michigan, to obtain valuable experience, working as an orthopedic surgeon for seven years, providing exceptional care to patients at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital and DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, both in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Tonnos then returned to the Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons of Northern California team and their exceptional medical practice and has been working as an orthopedic trauma surgeon at the Carmichael, California, office.

Christopher Finkemeier, MD, is a California native, bringing exceptional orthopedic and trauma care in Carmichael, California. At Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons of Northern California, Dr. Finkemeier attentively listens to his patients’ concerns to find quick, comprehensive solutions.
His educational journey started with receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating magna cum laude.
Dr. Finkemeier obtained his Master of Business Administration quickly thereafter, also from the University of California Irvine (UCI). Realizing he had a passion for impeccable medical care, he moved to San Francisco and obtained his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco. After completing a residency program at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Dr. Finkemeier became an assistant clinical professor at the University of California Davis.
Since then, Dr. Finkemeier has been providing impeccable health care through Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons of Northern California for more than 20 years. Dr. Frinkemeier regularly contributes to the Journal of Orthopedic Trauma and stays up-to-date with many hospital committees, such as the Trauma CQI Committee and Orthopedic Trauma Section SRMC.
Dr. Finkemeier also has decades of experience working on several peer-reviewed publications, offering greater insight into orthopedic medicine. He has recently worked considerably on publications about femur fractures and care. Dr. Finkemeier’s work is featured in AO Publication, EFORT Open Reviews, and the Journal of Orthopedic Trauma.
Ethan Lea, MD, is a board-certified doctor of orthopedic surgery, providing unmatched care in Carmichael, California. At Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons of Northern California, Dr. Lea has a passion for treating patients who have experienced traumatic injuries.
Dr. Lea started his orthopedic journey by receiving his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, graduating summa cum laude. He earned the Merek Award for excellence in biochemistry and the Undergraduate Student Excellence Award for his impeccable academic performance.
Shortly after, Dr. Lea pursued master’s and medical degrees simultaneously, highlighting his drive and dedication to all things orthopedic. He earned both degrees from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was given the Alfred S. Maschke Award for Excellence. Dr. Lea immediately followed up with the same institution's internship and residency program.
Dr. Lea has privileges at the Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, California, and Sutter Roseville Medical Center in California. Today, he also contributes his vast orthopedic expertise to the Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons of Northern California team.
Dr. Lea’s contributions can be seen in peer-reviewed journals and books, such as Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. Dr. Lea currently has a book chapter in review discussing the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of the humerus.
