Welcome to Doran, a welcoming, compassionate, and holistic mental health practice in the Manhattan borough of New York City. Juan Robles-Gil Aleman and the team provide comprehensive, integrative, and humanistic mental health care in person and virtually to adults of all ages — particularly the LGBTQIA+ community (transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, gender fluid, and others).

Our practice provides outstanding, affordable, trauma-informed, and multiculturally competent therapy through in-network options. We genuinely care about our patients’ mind, body, and spirit. The Doran team uses a systemic lens that doesn’t separate individuals from their context, environment, legacy, or ancestry.  

Doran is an internal family systems (IFS) level 3-trained practice, and the owner and clinical director is eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)-certified. We offer convenient and flexible scheduling, providing services at our Manhattan office or from the comfort of patients’ homes via telehealth. 

Our practitioners are ISF institute-, EMDR International Association-, and somatic experience-trained — and many of our therapists identify as LGBTQIA+. We are trauma-informed, use AI-assisted psychotherapy, and provide AI-friendly therapists at patients’ discretion. 

Examples of conditions we treat at Doran include trauma, mood disorders, sex addictions, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, substance abuse, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and eating disorders. 

We provide various forms of therapy, particularly EMDR and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) — as well as medication management, ketamine therapy, grief and loss counseling, and anger management. In addition to individual therapy, we provide group, couples, and family counseling based on patients’ specific needs, treatment preferences, and mental health goals.

Our Doran mental health specialists advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, accepting and affirming this population group. We use a holistic and trauma-informed framework to help LGBTQIA+ individuals navigate unique challenges and the intricacies of identity and community integration.
