About Dr. Eugene Stautberg, MD

Dr. Eugene Stautberg, a native Houstonian, appreciates the opportunity to serve the community where he grew up. Dr. Stautberg is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. He graduated from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, now known as McGovern Medical School. His interest in biomechanics, engineering, and rehabilitation led him to orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Stautberg completed his orthopedic surgery residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. During his residency, he received numerous awards, including the ‘Orthopedic In-Training Master Award’ for the highest raw score as a chief resident, the ‘Resident Excellence in Research’ award, and the ‘Golden Bone Award’ for his role in the education of medical students as a junior resident.

After residency, Dr. Stautberg completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. During fellowship, Dr. Stautberg trained on a wide spectrum of foot and ankle pathology and techniques, including reconstruction and deformity correction, sports medicine, and trauma. During fellowship, he was involved in education, research, and quality within orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Stautberg has multiple published articles and presentations. Dr. Stautberg is an active member of multiple organizations. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), where he sits on the ‘Practice Management Committee’ and the ‘Young Physicians Committee’. He has multiple recently published articles in the AOFAS newsletter, ‘InStride’, focusing on appropriate medical coding. He also sits on the Leadership Counsil of the Texas Orthopedic Association, where his focus is on advocacy for orthopedic patients in Texas and education of residents.

Dr. Stautberg is interested in comprehensive foot and ankle care, from acute sports injuries and trauma to chronic conditions.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Stautberg spends his free time with his wife and three young children. He enjoys travel, Houston sports teams, and golf.
