Makam Medical is a multi-generational cardiovascular practice with offices in Anaheim and Corona, California. Dr. Arjun Makam, DO, FACC, leads the practice with a focus on two areas that consistently require more specialized attention than standard cardiology provides: advanced lipid management and high-risk cardiovascular prevention.

Dr. Makam holds six board certifications — Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Adult Echocardiography, Internal Medicine, and Clinical Lipidology (ABCL, 2023). Board certification in Clinical Lipidology is held by fewer than 1,000 physicians in the United States. This dual expertise in interventional cardiology and lipidology allows Dr. Makam to address both the structural and metabolic dimensions of cardiovascular disease in a way that few practices can offer.

Dr. Makam completed his internal medicine residency at USC/LAC+USC Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute in New Orleans — where he was named Chief Fellow — and advanced Interventional Cardiology fellowship training at Kaiser Sunset Los Angeles Medical Center.

We provide care for adults ages 21 and older. Our patients include those managing common cardiovascular conditions as well as those with complex cases that have been difficult to manage elsewhere — patients with Familial Hypercholesterolemia, elevated Lipoprotein(a), statin intolerance, refractory hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease.

We believe the best outcomes happen when a specialist and a primary care physician work together. We communicate directly with referring providers, return consultation notes promptly, and keep your primary care physician at the center of your care.

Dr. Makam is fluent in English, Spanish, Telugu, and understands Gujarati. We welcome patients from all backgrounds. He is on staff at Anaheim Global Medical Center, Anaheim Regional Medical Center, and Corona Regional Medical Center.
