About Dr. Alan Reitman, PhD, LMHC, MT-BC

I graduated from Temple University with degrees in Music Therapy, in 1983, an 1988, a Masters 1988, and a Ph.D. in Psychoeducational Processes (Group/Family Psychology Track) in 1997. I've worked with a variety of in and out-patient settings over the course of my career as a music therapist and mental health counselor. I've worked predominantly with adolescents and adults with chemical dependence and emotional disturbance and musicians with performance anxiety, as well as couples. My approach to treatment is client-centered and integrates various models of psychotherapy to provide clinically effective and compassionate care. I have developed several models of therapy, including group music therapy approaches for clients in short term addiction settings, Music Video Group (a creative art therapy approach for at-risk adolescents), and treatments for music and other types of anxiety.
