About Dr. Alexandra Geoca, MD

Dr. Geoca entered medicine to help others, better understand the human experience, and hear and honor others stories. She attended George Washington University (GWU), earning a double major in philosophy and biology and a minor in performance jazz, before continuing at GWU for medical school. She completed psychiatry residency at Saint Elizabeths Hospital, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. Along the way, Dr. Geoca contributed to research and publications, created and led humanities-focused groups, completed yoga teacher training, served as an elected resident member of the Washington Psychiatric Society Board, and even published a poem. Throughout it all, she has remained committed to her own psychotherapeutic journey and benefitted immensely from prioritizing her own mental health. Outside of work, Dr. Geoca enjoys playing piano, synth, and bass, drawing and painting, and writing fiction and nonfiction.
