Everyone was nice. Wait was not long at all. The appointment felt a little rushed but maybe my fault because during the online booking for my appointment I noted what I would like to discuss and when I arrived they asked if I was Show morescheduled for a well woman exam and I agreed. While in there I thought I could discuss birth control, which was one of the main reasons I scheduled and noted during the online booking, but the doctor kept telling me that I could book a consultation to discuss birth control. I was a little disappointed in having to come back for that again. If it was about having to pay a consultation fee I would have been ok to do that just to start some birth control sooner. Anyways I’m not used to scheduling doctors visit, maybe next time I will call and speak to someone first so I know the proper category to book the appointment under in regards to my needs. Or maybe a good idea would be to have a staff member follow up with online appointments.
Today was my first visit with Dr. Pellicena is friendly and professional. Her office is clean and well kept. Her front desk staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Dr. Pellicena Was friendly and professional. I felt heard andShow more was able to ask the questions I had. She was knowledgeable and her responses were helpful. Menopause can be hard and lonely. It helps to have a good Doctor to journey with. I am looking forward to our next visit.
As a practicing obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Alexandra Pellicena’s goal is to consistently provide compassionate, quality health care to women throughout every stage of their lives, from the reproductive years to menopause, and beyond. At her practice in Houston, Texas, Dr. Pellicena specializes in helping women find relief from severe gynecological conditions, such as osteoporosis, uterine fibroids, and endometriosis, which harm a woman’s quality of life.
On the obstetric side, Dr. Pellicena has extensive experience helping women navigate high-risk pregnancies, ensuring the best possible outcome for both mother and baby.
Originally from Madrid, Spain, Dr. Pellicena came to the U.S. and obtained her BS degree in biochemistry from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, in 1989. After a stint as a medical researcher, Dr. Pellicena earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated in 1997 with a concentration in human genetics.
After deciding to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Pellicena completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2001. During her education, Dr. Pellicena was awarded the Arthur M. Farris Sr. MD Resident Research Award for her research on the genetics of pre-eclampsia in 2000.
In 2004, Dr. Pellicena was board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and she’s a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Currently, Dr. Pellicena has admitting privileges at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. As a native of Spain, Dr. Pellicena welcomes both English- and Spanish-speaking patients.
When she’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Pellicena spends time with her husband and twin children. She also enjoys Ashtanga yoga and playing tennis.
