Would be a 5 star but the girl who checks people in is always lost, don't know her job always as for my insurance card and it say in my files workmans comp injury. She's rude and when I ask her the simplest questions she never knoShow morew and have to go some girl around the corner. But once I actually get through the doors of dr. Guirgues office some of the staff over their is awesome sauce, not all of them. When I was going to my room only one lady spoke to my mother and I but there was 5 others sitting at both desk's. Dr. Guirgues is AMAZING, he listens and take his time with his patients, i NEVER feel like I'm being rushed out and in to the next bother some. He is welcoming and always smiling when he comes unto the room. Answers all my questions, helps me to make the decides, for; what is best for me in the short and long run. I will have him do my surgery no matter where he goes; so you guys better make sure he never goes anywhere. THIRD BEST DOCTOR I EVER FOUND IN JACKSONVILLE and I LIVED HERE ALL MY LIFE. That is so sad to say for 30 plus yrs. My other 2 use to work here but moved out of Jacksonville for better money and I followed them both an hour away, so pleaseeeee make sure Dr. Guirgues stays by all means necessary ; ) Thanks Doc you are a true Rockstar!
Everyone was very kind. My only complaint was upon arriving. I arrived 25 minutes early expecting to fill out paperwork. I waited for sometime for the receptionist because she was on the phone. I was handed clipboard witShow moreh lots of forms, 9 I think. I was led to a room to fill them out. While I was filling them out the nurse kept asking how I was doing, and taking the forms I was done with. In the middle of all this someone came to take for X-rays. Then the paperwork nurse came back again. At that time she went and got her lap top and we worked on the information together. My suggestion is, is it possible to send these forms to the patient to fill out on line or to be printed at home so they could be filled out slowly without being rushed. Or they could be mailed to the patient a week or so in advance? My appointment went very well considering the paperwork mess. Everyone was very kind and patient. And Dr. Guirgues was very clear in his explanations and procedures. I was very comfortable with him.
About Us
Ashraf Guirgues, MD, leads the team at Carolinas Center for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, with locations in Morehead City, Swansboro, and Jacksonville, North Carolina. He is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon with 17 years of experience practicing evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Guirgues received his Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and a fellowship in spinal surgery with Dr. Bruce Darden at the Charlotte Spine Center in North Carolina.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the North American Spine Society. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.
His professional interests are in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He particularly enjoys minimally invasive spinal surgery, such as microdiscectomy and minimally invasive lumbar fusion. He operates as a spinal surgeon at Carteret Health Care, Onslow Memorial Hospital and The Surgical Center of Morehead City. Dr. Guirgues is an integral part of the Carolinas Center for Joint and Spine at Carteret Health Care. He is the director of the Carolinas Center for Spine Surgery which includes a spinal surgeon, physician assistant, nurses, and physical therapists working as a cohesive team.
He previously practiced in New Hampshire before joining Carteret Surgical Associates, now Carolinas Center for Surgery, in 2006. He has completed additional training and is qualified to perform artificial disc replacement in the neck and lower back.
Dr. Guirgues lives and works in Morehead City and Jacksonville, North Carolina, with his wife and three sons. He enjoys the wonderful climate of the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. In his free time, Dr. Guirgues loves skeet shooting.

Dr Gurigus is an excellent surgeon. He is high energy and doesn't sugarcoat things, which I totally respect. He prepared me for the outcomes to expect. He was not eager to do surgery without offering nonsurgical options first.

Absolute BEST! I've had many medical providers over the years for my back. I wish I had med Dr. Guirgues sooner. It's been 6 weeks since my spine surgery and I am almost back to better than my previous normal. I HIGHLY Recommend Dr. Guirgues if you need a spine surgeon.
I started my journey with Dr Gurguis with almost 28 years of severe debilitating pain that went from my mid to lower back, all the way to my feet. I saw him and we made a plan and I had surgery in May of this year and now 3 months later, im walking better and the sciatica I experienced is gone. I'm not 100% but a much better improvement on my back. I am so grateful to him and I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you so much.
