Throughout his life, Brett Sachse, MD, has been committed to hard work and going the extra mile to achieve the best possible outcomes. At the Surgical Consultants of Northern Virginia in Reston, Virginia, Dr. Sachse applies this work ethic to performing expert surgeries to patients of all ages. He specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgeries from anti-reflux surgery to laparoscopic gallbladder removal.
Always an outstanding student, Dr. Sachse was admitted to medical school while still in high school through a unique program offered by Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and MCP Hahnemann University (now Drexel University College of Medicine) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In just seven semesters, he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology at Wilkes University. He spent his final semester as a Guthrie Scholar, performing clinical research at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Sachse joined the U.S. Army through the Health Professions Scholarship program during his senior year of college. After completing his Doctor of Medicine and his surgical residency at MCP Hahnemann University, he became active duty, serving his country by performing surgeries for service people, military contractors, and others at Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia, and during two deployments to Iraq.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Saches enjoys spending time with his wife and five children.

Visit with surgeon and PA was pleasant. Though the office front door was locked when I arrived a few minutes prior to my appointment and I was concerned something went wrong with scheduling. Ended up being a non-issue, but did affect the overall experience.
Very friendly doctor that can explain things in simple terms. But I was misdiagnosed and then diagnosed correctly while already in surgery under anesthesia. I had no say in the specifics of the procedure (obviously) and my recovery has not been great. I wish more care was taken, surgical procedures should always be done efficiently and correctly, and I don’t think that was done here.

Dr. Sachse is an amazing surgeon! I am over 60 years old and have lots of health issues, so I was a bit concerned when I heard I needed to have my appendix removed. He did such a wonderful job with the surgery! My recovery was quick and I did not need any pain medications! He is good at what he does!
Dr. Sachse is an excellent surgeon. He explained clearly to me why I should have surgery repair on my inguinal hernia. He also had me sign papers for exploratory on my right side, as often when there’s one hernia there may be another on the opposite side. Turns out I did have a femoral hernia also. It took me seven weeks rather than six weeks to be totally pain free. I attribute this to having the second hernis, plus we moved after my surgery. Although I never lifted more than 20 lbs during my recovery, I was packing and decluttering starting a week after surgery and then unpacking a month after surgery. I may have overdone it! Although the timing wasn’t great as far as the move went, I’m happy that I now have the move and the surgery behind me!
His explanation pre surgery about complication was detailed. Very much patience enough to explain any questions or concerns.
I've seen perhaps 20-30 doctors during various aspects of my cancer journey, and I'd rank Dr. Mohammed Bayasi as either #1 or #2, depending on the criteria. He was the first to catch my cancer. But more importantly, Dr. Bayasi is a compassionate, straight shooter. He had a tough diagnosis to deliver to my wife when I came out of surgery, and he did it with candor, empathy and dignity--exactly what he demonstrated to me during my follow-up visits. I have no qualms about offering my sincere gratitude and unwavering recommendation.

my entire experience with my appointment was excellent. From the pleasant greeting at the front desk, the getting my vitals and then my experience with Dr S was top notch. The pleasant personality and friendly manner put me at ease while we discussed having surgery. My primary care Dr Rentz thinks highly of him & I can see why.

Dr. Sachse was thorough with the exam as well as in asking questions of my daughter. He not only directed his questions to her (a 14 year old), he validated her unexplained pain and took a lot of time to answer our questions and give details regarding possible steps moving forward.
