Brian Hamzavi, MD, is a New York-trained orthopaedic surgeon bringing a wealth of experience to Hammer Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Palm Bay, Florida.
Dr. Hamzavi began his medical journey with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. He later earned a master’s degree in medical science and medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He completed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Mt Sinai Hospital, formally know as St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York. Dr. Hamzavi also served as the orthopaedic surgery chief resident at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital. He has since specialized in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those involving knee pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, wrist pain, hand pain, elbow pain, and back pain.
After residency in New York, Dr Hamzavi relocated to Florida to complete a sports medicine fellowship at the University of South Florida and Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa.
While in the Tampa Bay area, Dr. Hamzavi provided coverage of local high schools, the University of Tampa Soccer team, St. Leo University, the University of South Florida Football and Soccer teams, as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He welcomes patients of all ages, including younger pediatric patients.
In addition to conventional orthopaedic treatments, like minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Hamzavi specializes in advanced regenerative medicine techniques, including stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP), offering innovative solutions for various musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr Hamzavi took the time to answer all my questions, explain things, and let me know what to expect during the course of a procedure so there were no surprises. The cortisone injection he administered was practically painless. I left there with a plan if my procedure ends up not solving the problem. This was my first visit. I was not disappointed and would be happy to recommend Hammer Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
The office staff and Dr. Hamzavi are always very pleasant and welcoming. He has a very strong background in orthopedic sports medicine, and I trust him implicitly with my knee.

Dr. Hamzavi was amazing!! My son broke his wrist playing football and we originally saw a different doctor. All of our follow ups and care will come from Dr. Hamzavi. He explained my son’s injury to me in full detail and what my options were for a healthy outcome. He took his time and really cared about my son like family. Highly recommend this office!!! They are all fantastic and their paperwork process was easy peezy!

I’ve been having trouble for years with my shoulder and my elbow on my finger and went to the doctor and within a month or so now he has taken care of my finger now working on my shoulder and even following up personally on his own time to make sure after the procedures are done to see how I am doing! Highly recommend!!!!
