Instead of just leaving a note saying how great Dr Wanner and all of Skin Cancer Specialists is, I’m going to recount a recent experience. My wife had knee replacement surgery a week ago and had difficulty taking the OxyContin wheShow moren her pain got overwhelming the day after the surgery. We attempted to contact the surgeon’s practice, office staff , medical assistants, and even the receptionist for almost 3 days before we were able to get a different prescription or any other help. Knee replacement surgery is usually difficult and complicated but this made it incredibly more so. Compare that to the simple MOHS surgery that I had Yesterday with Dr Wanner, and the difference is remarkable! What’s actually the most exceptional part of the story is that Dr Wanner always calls and checks on me personally the evening after the procedure. I’ve probably had over 100 MOHS extractions and I don’t believe Dr Wanner or Dr. Skinner has ever failed to call me and see how I was doing and make sure that I was all right. I think this story sums up the quality of skin care specialists, and explains the level of trust I have for them. They actually care about the patients here. They always exceed any expectation!!! Brian Wanner, DO, is a board-certified dermatologist, Mohs micrographic surgeon, and reconstructive surgeon at Skin Cancer Specialists, located in Mesa, Arizona.
Dr. Wanner grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended the University of Colorado, where he studied integrative physiology and graduated with distinction. He then completed medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa, where he was inducted into the Sigma Sigma Phi National Honor Society and received the Academic Achievement Award for graduating at the top of his class.
After medical school, Dr. Wanner moved to Florida for an internship at the University of South Florida's Largo Medical Center Program in Tampa. He then moved to Columbus, Ohio, for his dermatology residency at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was elected chief resident and received the OhioHealth Kylee Sacksteder Leadership Award during his final year.
Post-residency, Dr. Wanner attended a highly sought-after Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He is expertly trained in skin cancer removal, Mohs micrographic surgery, management of high-risk solid organ transplant patients, and facial reconstruction after skin cancer removal. He has performed more than 2,000 skin cancer surgeries throughout his career, many with complex reconstructions.
Dr. Wanner has published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at state and national conferences. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).
Dr. Wanner has helped improve the quality of care provided by dermatologists nationwide through his work on the AAD’s Performance Measurement Committee and Actinic Keratosis Quality Measures Workgroup.
During his time off, Dr. Wanner enjoys golfing, hiking, bicycling, skiing/snowboarding, and spending quality time with his wife and son.

I arrived on time and didn’t have to wait very long before I was called into the surgery room. The nurse made me feel very comfortable and explained the process of the procedure. Considering the fact that due to a cancellation I was only scheduled for the procedure yesterday and was very apprehensive. I was greeted by the staff at the desk when I first arrived and aided in filling out the update papers. From that time throughout the entire time at 101 and 102 everything was explained and I was given the opportunity to ask questions and was treated with respect. This includes Dr. Wanner and staff members.

Today Dr. Wanner removed a skin cancer from my left temple. This isn't the first time he's worked on me. Both times he's been courteous, professional, and does nice work. The previous procedure was a large spot on the tip of my nose and it has healed up nice and is hardly noticeable.
