Missed my appointment with previous Dermatologist in VA due to my 3.5 week- relocation to Ocala. Had a skin itch severely impacting my quality of life. Tried creams & lotions and browsed internet for solutions and a dermatologist.Show more Stumbled on Dr Hicks and his practice. Due to a cancellation, I got an appointment in one day. Pre-appt screening; follow-through before appt; reminders; check-in; treatment rooms; office team (Vickie); and, Dr Hicks and staff were awesome. Dr Hicks is very attentive, engaging, and offers solutions with no BS recommendations after listening and assessing. His efforts and samples gave me new options and skin relief beyond expectations. I found my Dermatologist and team close to my new home.
I visited Dr. Hicks today because I was concerned about some flaky spots on my arms. Upon my arrival I was greeted with courtesy and professionalism from his staff. Bryan Hicks, MD, is a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and a second-generation dermatologist with more than three decades of medical experience. At his practice, Marion Dermatology, in Ocala and The Villages, Florida, he treats the full range of dermatologic problems, with a special interest in cosmetic dermatology and skin cancer surgery.
Dr. Hicks grew up in South Miami and Coral Gables, Florida, where he was the oldest of four children. His father, John, was also a dermatologist who thrived in his chosen profession and influenced his son. His mother taught Dr. Hicks equanimity and a resilient spirit, qualities that continue to help him as he works with patients who need support through difficult dermatologic conditions.
Dr. Hicks graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, with a Bachelor of Science in zoology. He received his medical education from the University of Miami, Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, a highly regarded and long-standing medical school. He completed an internship in internal medicine and dermatology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
The residency program in Miami is one of the largest in the country and very progressive in teaching skin cancer and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Hicks learned from pioneers in the field, Drs. Henry Menn, Harvey Blank, and Leonard Lewis. During his time at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Hicks also helped Neil Penneys, MD, write the first photographic atlas on skin manifestations of AIDS.
Dr. Hicks began his private practice in Miami, was diverted for a few years to Jackson, Wyoming, then ultimately returned to his home state, building roots in Ocala, Florida. He has thrived in a solo practice there since 1993.
Dr. Hicks is married to Melodee, a former Miami attorney, who’s now a thoroughbred breeder. In his free time, he relaxes with his wife and three children.

Office is always on top of things & Dr. Hicks always reviews situation and never makes me feel rushed. Been going here for years and Dr. Hicks is friendly, polite and never hesitates to answer questions or make suggestions.
I had a follow-up visit and that phase of the treatment was finished. We then came up with a plan for the next phase. Dr. Hicks had some excellent tips for the next treatments.
Dr Hicks was very professional and explained everything. I will probably return in the furture for some additional growth removals. He also took the time to explain that my skin is very thin and how to treat wounds I will undoubtedly have as a result.

I went to see Dr Hicks because of a sore on my arm that was not healing. He did a biopsy on the first visit and when the results came in he took immediate care of the skin cancer. He new exactly what to do, was professional and caring. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a good caring doctor.

I had an issue and my current Dermatologist was booked out 1.5 months. Looked Dr Hicks up and his ratings were great. Secured an appointment in two days. Intake forms were simple, admission to his office was greeted with smiles and was very easy. Dr. Hicks rating on line was way too low in my opinion. He is a warm compassionate Dr. who listened to my concerns and came up with the most practical and economical solutions. A Six star Dr. in my book and would recommend him highly!

Went straight back to a room, changed and Dr. Hicks came right in. He did an exam (routine) and told me he felt I didn't need yearly checks...maybe every few years unless I have a concern. He's not one of the doctors that says come back come back, he gave his honest opinion and each person has to decide to go along with their doctors plan but I feel like he's correct. I feel he's thorough and not eating my time...or his. Very good encounter.
Sincerely enjoyed meeting the staff and Dr. Hicks. He took his time and explained what he was going to do with the lump on my hand. Two weeks later there is no more pain and the lump is gone. Thank you very much.

The staff was friendly and helpful at check-in. I was placed in a clean examination room. Dr. Hicks entered five minutes later and began the examination and treatment that took about 15 minutes. We scheduled an appointment for next year. Perfect experience!
