It was great all-around process for me and my family. First call to the office and was given clear information for situation and to get an appointment. Able to schedule quite soon and the follow-up for imaging requests and paperShow morework was smooth. The appointment with Dr. Haggerty was thorough and he took the time to describe what my injury was, all the options available to me and expectations for each option. Time to ask all my questions and he was patient as I kept seeking clarification. The appointment was on time and I am please to say that he will be taking care of me soon. Would highly encourage people to seek this provider as he was careful and attentive.
I was very pleased with my visit with Dr. Haggerty After he looked over my x-rays, etc. he recommended I get a shot, but he did not want to pressure me. That is the first time a physician has ever offered to give me a shot right Show morethen and there. I thought about it and said Sure he sat me in a chair, had me lean forward a little and gave me a shot in my shoulder. I feel so much better already. I can’t even believe it. Thank you Dr. Haggerty for taking care of me.
Charles Haggerty, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Pioneer Peak Orthopedics in Wasilla, Alaska. He specializes in shoulder arthroscopy and total shoulders.
Dr. Haggerty went to college at Johns Hopkins University, earned a master's degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and then went to Loyola Medical School in Chicago. His orthopedic residency was in San Antonio, Texas, with the U.S. Air Force. After finishing his training in 2008, he was assigned as the chief orthopedic physician at Osan Air Force Base, South Korea. Upon finishing this assignment in 2009, he was transferred to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where he provided orthopedic care for veterans, cadets, and active-duty military. During his time at the Air Force Academy, he was a team physician for multiple collegiate teams, including Varsity Football and Hockey.
In 2012, Dr. Haggerty deployed to Afghanistan as the Commander of the 966 Forward Surgical Team, where he provided wartime trauma care to U.S. Soldiers and NATO Allies. His efforts in Afghanistan earned him numerous awards, including a Bronze Star. After returning to Colorado Springs and finishing his military service, he was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force in 2014. He then spent most of 2015 in three French Shoulder Fellowships, studying the latest open and arthroscopic shoulder techniques. In addition to his expertise with shoulder surgery, his interests include orthopedic sports medicine, hip and knee joint replacement, knee arthroscopy, and orthopedic trauma.
Dr. Haggerty returns to Alaska to be with his wife Dr. April Arseneau, a local Chugiak High School graduate, and their daughter, Samantha. He is passionate about mountain biking, snowboarding, and learning the secrets to great Alaskan fishing. He looks forward to providing state of the art orthopedic care to Alaskans and serving his community.

Very professional about details.
He was able to squeeze me in on a short notice. And he made sure that I understood everything that was going on. He was also.very ensuring about the overall procedure.

Dr. Haggerty spent time making me feel comfortable and never made me feel like he was rushing. He made sure I fully understood my injury, my healing process and my recovery journey. I would recommend him over and over for shoulder surgery.
