Daniel Norman, MD, is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, and is the Medical Director at Santa Monica Sleep Disorders Center. He provides treatment options for a wide variety of conditions including snoring, insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, parasomnias, and more.
Dr. Norman is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience and graduated summa cum laude. From there, he attended University of California, Irvine College of Medicine, where he was again recognized for his academic excellence with an Alpha Omega Alpha distinction and acceptance to the National Dean's List. He then completed residency training in Internal Medicine, and a dedicated fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Harvard, and a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at UC San Diego.
Through his studies, Dr. Norman came to understand the impact sleep had on a person’s health, and developed an interest in the effective treatment of sleep disorders. Dr. Norman has been on the forefront of sleep medicine, as a principal investigator in numerous research studies, a lecturer at UCLA and at various national meetings, and an author of over 20 abstracts, book chapters, and scientific articles in peer reviewed journals.

From appointment 1 to appointment 2 he completely changed our 6-12 month RX plan. It has been explained to me by several doctors (including Dr Norman) the high risk of fast withdrawal YET he insisted on immediate stop of a very addictive substance which could cause multiple life threatening complications Unless a doctor himself knows the extreme challenge of PTSD insomnia or at least compassion for the patient they have no business treating them. “Just go to sleep earlier- just get up earlier” AND do it without the medication you’ve depended on for 6 years. Stoping this RX can have severe withdrawal symptoms- stroke- heart attack- and more. If that happens it’s completely Dr Norman’s fault! The complete shift from appointment 1 to appointment 2 was very enlightening. After the VIP charge was rendered the plan and concern went out the window!

It was great to meet with him, because i usually meet with the assistant. I had lots of questions about my sleep test results and what options i had for care and he answered all of the questions I asked.

This doctor Norman Kept asking me question after question after question. And that might sound great like he cared and he was interested in me but he wasn't because every time I answer the question he would question me again about why that was my answer he was a gas lighter it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any doctor let alone asleep doctor I brought him letters I brought him all kinds of proof of what I've been on for over 22 years for my severe full body restless leg syndrome I have narcolepsy which he questioned me about and said how do you know you have narcolepsy. This guy is the worst of the worst do not go to him he kicked me out and he called me combative because I couldn't answer his hundred questions politely with a smile. Big gas lighter!!
