About Dr. Daniel Smith, MD

Daniel Smith, MD, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He sees patients at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group in Carmel, Fishkill, and Mount Kisco, New York, and Danbury, Connecticut.

Dr. Smith graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in human development. He earned his medical degree at New York University Grossman School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then pursued fellowship training in adult reconstruction at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, focusing on complex hip and knee replacement, revision hip and knee replacement, and robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery.

He has authored numerous publications and presented at regional and national orthopaedic meetings on topics ranging from outpatient joint replacement surgery to the treatment of joint replacement infections. Dr. Smith is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has particular interests in rapid recovery joint replacement surgery as well as navigation- and robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery.
