My Practice Beliefs The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Admin defines recovery as: “a process of change through which people improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives and strive to reach their full potential." I believe Recovery is about seeing beyond a person’s mental health problems, helping them recognize their strengths, abilities and interests and supporting them in achieving their own goals, aspirations and dreams. 4 Pillars that support recovery:  Health. Managing one’s disease(s) or symptoms and making informed, healthy choices that support physical and emotional wellbeing. Access to evidence-based medication and treatment.  Home. Having a stable/safe place to live.  Purpose. Conducting meaningful daily activities and having the independence, income and resources to participate in society.  Community. Having relationships and social networks that provide support, friendship, love and hope. I believe People can and do get well,
