Dr. Scott is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery at BOSS Orthopaedics in Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head Island, SC.
Dr. Scott’s expertise focuses on the shoulder and elbow, specifically in relation to sports medicine, trauma, minimally-invasive arthroscopy, replacement, and the complex reconstruction of these joints.
His training also included pediatric orthopaedics at the DuPont Institute and orthopaedic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering during his residency. He also completed the prestigious orthopaedic shoulder and elbow fellowship at Brown University, focusing on the upper extremity, including shoulder resurfacing, total shoulder and reverse total shoulder replacement, as well as advanced minimally-invasive techniques of shoulder and elbow arthroscopy.
Since beginning practice in the Lowcountry in 2012, Dr. Scott has performed hundreds of shoulder and elbow surgeries annually and has been voted “Best Orthopaedist” by readers of a local magazine.
Dr. Scott is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of numerous other professional orthopaedic and medical societies. He has authored peer-reviewed journal publications and academic book chapters for orthopaedic surgery, including being the lead author for a shoulder chapter in the 2025 edition of Orthopaedic Knowledge Update: Shoulder and Elbow 6.

Always a pleasure to visit Dr. Scott. On time, thorough, personable. He is THE standard of shoulder surgeons on HHI. He did both of my wife's shoulders but mercifully only one of mine. Excellent work on all three surgeries.

Dr. Scott is an amazingly skilled Orthopedist and I am lucky to have had him perform my shoulder replacement surgery. I felt very comfortable in the way he explained the procedure and operated on me. My recovery time will be much shorter because of his skills. I highly recommend Dr. Scott. Besides he is a very nice guy.

Dr Douglas Scott did my shoulder replacement in 2022. I was unable to lift my arm before but he fixed it. His bedside manner is unprecedented. I feel like I'm speaking with a family member when I'm with him. He explains everything and takes his time with you. He's extremely talented and I'd recommend him to anyone, which I had.
