Elisa Stephens

Dr. Stephens is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, rural health scholar, and senior graduate professor of nursing. In 2023, Dr. Stephens was identified as a “key community stakeholder” by Teton Behavioral Health Alliance. Dr. Stephens is the only advanced practice nurse serving as a subject matter and quality of care expert for Health Choice Arizona, which serves over 200,000 patients. She presented on digital health and innovation at the International Council of Nurses 2021 Congress in Geneva, Switzerland. An early career highlight was working as the clinical liaison to the Havasupai Tribe and commuting by helicopter into this remote area within the Grand Canyon. Dr. Stephens is passionate about reducing disproportionately high mortality rates of rural residents from preventable causes. She is committed to improving the quality of care and patient outcomes by developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
