I have an advanced degree in molecular biology and have taught anatomy at the college level, including the anatomy of the eye, so I have a strong appreciation for clinical knowledge and technical competence. Dr. Straut impressed me immediately. His expertise, thoroughness, and confidence were clear, and I can honestly say that patients are in excellent hands with him. The entire visit was outstanding. I was taken back almost immediately, within just a couple of minutes of signing in, and I did not spend time waiting in one room after another. I was seen promptly, evaluated thoroughly, and treated with real care. The technician who performed my refraction was exceptional, and an incorrect prescription from my previous ophthalmologist was finally corrected. I was genuinely emotional with relief after this visit. Competence matters, and so does being treated like a person rather than a number. Dr. Straut and his staff delivered both. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for skilled, compassionate eye care.
So far my experience with Atlantic eye consultants has been great. First visit as a new patient was this morning. They did their best to fit me in last minute because I was having terrible eye strain and headaches from my currentShow more glasses. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The eye exam was thorough. I’m starting by replacing the lenses in one pair of my computer glasses. The optical department investigated the issues I was having with my progressives (from another dr and provider). They checked them out and said the fit and prescription alignment was all wrong, no wonder I never liked them. That gives me hope. They are also doing their best to get my new lenses in as soon as possible so my headaches and strain are relived soon as I am on the computer for 9-14 hours a day. I appreciate their willingness to go above and beyond the typical service I get elsewhere.

I went to Dr straut for an exam for new contacts. He was very caring and professional in his exam. When I had a problem with one of my lenses he quickly determined the issue, corrected my prescription and ordered additional sample lenses.

Dr. Straut has been my optometrist for many years. He is very thorrow in explaining my occular condition and how to make improvements
I was seen within 10 minutes of my appointment time. The staff are pleasant and capable, Doctor Straut is caring and thorough. He does an excellent job of explaining things in terms I can understand, and takes extra effort to make sure he has answered and questions I might have.

Best eye specialists around. Outstanding Doctors
Had an appointment and arrived 10 minutes early and signed in as I normally do. Other folks came in after I signed in. I waited 35 minutes and I still had not been called to start my appointment, however several people who had signed in after me were called; I would say 5 or 6, so I went to the sign-in counter and asked why, did they lose my chart, so the lady checked and said my chart had already been taken back so I had to wait about another 8 minutes before I my name was finally called. Don’t think this is a normal procedure and if it is, why make an appointment?
Dr Straut and all of the supportive staff have been extremely thorough and professional. It’s a high volume busy practice yet it is organized and things move along well. The refraction staff I’ve seen are thorough. When they are done, you know that your vision has been corrected properly. Dr Straut(I’ve seen 3 times) actually reads your file notes and follows up on what happened on the last visit making sure I completely understand everything and he accepts feedback. I couldn’t ask for better eye care.
