I called Hollywood Retina this Wednesday and fortunately got an appointment for Friday morning. My insurance was verified and I was accepted as a New Patient. I received assistance from Staff regarding address and directions. DayShow more of my Appointment, Registration Receptionist, Destiny, and Catherine/Kathryn? all explained services to me before or during as needed. This was my first visit to Dr. Gary Shienbaum’s office. I already have my appointment for 2024. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I came there to KNOW THE HEALTH OF MY EYES, right eye in particular. I left, confident in the Eye Care I received, understanding that ALL the specific TESTS informed doctor and staff, of the healthy state of my eyes. This visit I thought would be 1 of 2 I had left, as I was receiving treatments to my right eye that required 6 injections. Although not a pleasant experiance due to their nature, I was pleased that I was almost done with them haviShow moreng only 1 left after this one to complete the series. During initial exam, the Dr. Shienbaum notice a stye and informed me that he would have to treat that before he could continue with the remaining injections. Although I was not very pleased with this news, I know that Dr. Shienbaum has my best interests at heart and wants me to 100% when he is through treating me. Dr. Shienbaum received his Doctor of Medicine degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He performed his medical internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center and his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases & Surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. Dr. Shienbaum is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Dr. Shienbaum’s clinical interests include advanced treatments for diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular hole, macular pucker, retinal vascular disease, retinal detachment, complications of cataract surgery, and ocular infection & inflammation. He has authored numerous scientific peer-reviewed publications on vitreoretinal diseases and has presented his research at both local and national meetings.

The doctor is very knowledgeable, caring, when he told me that the time for recuperation was 8 weeks, i was so nervous that it could be longer, but he was only short one day! The day before my last visit which was today, 8 weeks later, my last bubble disappeared!! Just as he said. He also answers all the questions with great attitude and i will recommend him without a doubt.
