I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Strohmeyer and his entire team. From the moment I first met him, I could tell he truly cares about his patients. He is polite, patient, and takes the time to explain everything in a wShow moreay that makes you feel comfortable and confident in your care. Dr. Strohmeyer performed surgery on my knee, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. His skill, attention to detail, and dedication to my recovery were exceptional. Throughout the entire process, I always felt heard, respected, and cared for — not just as a patient, but as a person. His staff is just as incredible. Every member of his team is friendly, professional, and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and supported. I have known Dr. Strohmeyer since he was on a Palmer swim team with my daughter and son. He is down to earth, approachable, kind, supportive, encouraging and fair. He listens as if he has nowhere else to be. His office is extremelShow morey well run. Dr. Strohmeyer performed a total knee replacement for me in 2023; but only after I made the decision to do it. He doesn’t push surgery at all. He explains all options and gives his patients total autonomy over their health decisions. I would recommend him (and I do) to everyone. I would trust him with my own children and family.

Gregory Strohmeyer, MD?
Gregory Strohmeyer, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Pioneer Peak Orthopedics in Wasilla, Alaska. He was born and raised right here in Palmer, Alaska. He is the Matanuska Susitna Valley’s only specialty-trained fracture surgeon.
After graduating from Colony High School, where he was a four-year varsity letter hockey player, Dr. Strohmeyer attended Montana State University, where he studied biochemistry and graduated with high honors. He continued on to Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, for medical school. Dr. Strohmeyer completed his orthopedic residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he received a broad education in orthopedic surgery. After residency, due to his interest in broken bones, he pursued an additional year of training in orthopedic trauma with the orthopedic trauma surgeons of Northern California in Roseville, California. During his fellowship year, Dr. Strohmeyer studied the most up-to-date techniques for the treatment of complex fractures in the upper and lower extremities, as well as the pelvis and acetabulum. He gained experience treating post-traumatic complications, including non-unions (where the bone doesn’t heal), malunions (where the bones heal in an abnormal position), post-operative infections, and post-traumatic arthritis. His fellowship also gave him expertise in hip arthroplasty surgery, including the direct anterior approach for total hip replacement. In addition to treating fractures, Dr. Strohmeyer’s interests include total knee replacement, rotator cuff repairs, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, osteochondral allograft transplantation, foot and ankle surgery, pediatric orthopedics, and hand surgery.
Throughout Dr. Strohmeyer’s education, he has been active in research and has been published in multiple journals, including Orthopaedic Knowledge Online Journal, Foot and Ankle International, Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Dr. Strohmeyer is excited to be home in Palmer and is accompanied by his wife, Cindy, who was also raised in the Mat-Su Valley. They are joined by their three children. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Strohmeyer enjoys hunting, fishing, flying, snow machining, playing hockey, snowboarding, and mountain biking. He is a two-time finisher in the Iron Dog Pro Class (2021, 2022). He is eager to have the opportunity to return home and serve the community he was raised in.

Dr. Strohmeyer is very kind and compassionate. I appreciate that he doesn't just tell me what I HAVE to do - he gives me options and helps me decide which one is the best choice for me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a capable Orthopedic physician.
I have been very lucky to get first-in-the-morning appointments for my quarterly procedure. The staff is pleasant and are happy to answer my questions.
Extremely quick to get into, thorough, great experience to fix the pain and range of motion problems.

Professional, efficient, personable. Dr. Strohmeyer listened carefully and provided me with the answers and resources I was seeking. He let me direct my care, without pushing me to choose additional treatments.
Satisfied that he assessed the problem and made carefully thought recommendations
Best place in the valley to have a opa doctor
Dr. Strohmeyer listens and makes suggestions as to what needs to be done. He is very personable and easy to talk to. He is very knowledgeable. I really like him as a person and my doctor.
From the moment I met Dr. Strohmeyer I was at ease and felt seen and heard. We initially tried a simpler procedure to try and fix my knee issue. This past Friday, I had a complete knee replacement and am doing so well. I would recommend Dr. Strohmer to anyone. He and his staff are the best in the business.
Love dr strohmeyerr.
