I waited years to go get help about my back pain. Because I was terrified of anyone giving me needles in my back. I had both my children naturally Because I didn't want an epidural. So for years l delt with the pain. Trying everShow moreything they (my regular dr) wanted to try. Chiropractic care for years, not only physical but aqua therapy (several times) but nothing helped my pain just got worse every day. Till one day my sister had a bad car accident and she after all she went through as well because of the pain she went to Dr Achampong and kept telling me to go at least talk to he he might be able to help. So after another couple years and more pain. I made the decision and went. Well it was the best decision I ever made. Dr Achampong is the most caring and sincere and supportive Dr I have ever had. I don't trust anyone but him to do my injections because he makes it as painless as possible and I TRUST him. He listen to my questions and answers them and helps me do what is best for me and my health and pain. He also not needing to but let me know i had a huge kidney stone on one side and thought that to may be at that time why we were having a hard time monitoring and trying to help my pain issues at that time. And because of him went to see my urologist and had to have it removed. But like everything else he knows and I know I have a issue growing large kidney stones very quickly. So he he knows and I keep him informed because of that as well. He helped get me on a good path to help me be better not only because of my pain but my health also. Now I know not everyone is same but when you find a Dr you can trust and does all he can to help you whenever he can. Hold on because they are far and in-between. He also does my migraine injections every 12 weeks. I love my Dr Achampong don't know what I would do without him. Thanks Dr Henry I appreciate all you do for me and my family. GOD BLESS YOU!
I've never been more comfortable around people who are about to cram a couple of needles between my vertebrae and juice me up like thanksgiving turkey. The nursing Staff are very friendly and add a very warm and welcoming atmospheShow morere and time and time again have gone above and beyond to help with getting paperwork or other clerical issues resolved. The doctors here have always been super friendly and very direct are very open to questions or concerns you may have about treatment and care. They'll take the time to explain in detail everything youd want and need to know about medications and treatment options and are very open to questions and suggestions about different treatments or alternative treatment even. On top of that the epidural procedure is as painless as it comes. A flu shot or alergey shot is more uncomfortable than than a epidural and that's 100% on the Dr's and nurse staff. The whole process even is so efficient and quick you can order a pizza from specific before you go in the room and by the time your out and drive over They'll be boxing it up. 10/10 would inject again.
Henry Achampong, MD, MS, is an experienced pain management physician and the founder of Maryland Pain & Wellness Center in Delmar, Crisfield, Princess Ann, Pocomoke, Berlin, Ocean City, Cambridge, Easton Crofton, Prince Frederick, and Salisbury, Maryland. He has over a decade of professional experience in pain management and anesthesiology.
Dr. Achampong treats a variety of chronic and acute pain disorders. His focus includes cancer pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and disorders of the spine. Dr. Achampong is an expert in pharmacological and interventional pain disorder treatments.
He is well trained in all interventional pain approaches, including epidural injections, facet injections, radiofrequency techniques, discography, spinal cord stimulators, intrathecal infusion pumps, vertebroplasty, and minimally invasive lumbar decompression.
Dr. Achampong completed his undergraduate training at Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky, where he graduated summa cum laude with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.
He earned his master’s degree in pharmacology from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, where he successfully defended his thesis on the role of B-amyloid in neuroapoptosis. Because of Dr. Achampong’s research, pharmaceutical companies isolated new drug targets that treat neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
Dr. Achampong studied medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. There, he worked with Dr. Suzanne T. Ildstad (the director of the Institute for Cellular Therapeutics and CEO of Regenerex) to characterize facilitating cells, a special group of cells important for successful organ transplantation.
He trained in anesthesiology at The Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, where he remained actively engaged in anesthesiology and pain management research. Dr. Achampong completed his interventional pain management fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, which is one of the most reputable academic pain management programs in the country.
He maintains his advanced credentials with continuing education. Dr. Achampong is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, The Spine Intervention Society, North American Neuromodulation Society, and the American Pain Society.
He maintains strong relationships with patients, who know they aren’t treated as just a number. Dr. Achampong makes patients feel comfortable and as if they’re his only patient. He develops comprehensive, therapeutic approaches specific to each patient’s needs.
In his free time, Dr. Achampong enjoys soccer, running, ping pong, tennis, and traveling. He is currently accepting new patients and warmly welcomes them to Maryland Pain & Wellness Center.

Always a professional and caring environment
Great doctors, they’ve helped locate where the pain was at it worse and gave me medicated shots in said location and it like I was never in pain lol. I’ve been to a few places in the past that didn’t work out, but they work fast here. they identify the problem give you options on how to help you deal with the pain and take action immediately. I highly recommend pain & wellness all of the staff are nice and professional. Im happy I was recommended to come here, and I have already recommended a few family members to come here already.

I always look forward to my visit with Dr Achampong. The wait time was a bit lengthy but, very much worth it. All of my concerns were addressed and the necessary steps were taken in efforts to manage my pain and discomfort. Excellent experience again! Dr. Henry is one of few physicians I know who truly cares about his patients. It shows in how he prepares by reading the patient’s records before walking into the exam room, and he will take as much time as needed before going to the next patient. As a result you sometimes may have to wait a bit longer before you are being seen, but you know you will get the time you need when it is your turn. The other physicians are working hard as well and also show they care about their patients. Furthermore, the support staff greet you by name and take pride in their work. G go
