Dr. Ian VanderGulik is a Foot and Ankle Surgeon who recently joined South Texas Foot Surgeons in San Antonio, Texas. Known for his compassionate, patient-centered approach, Dr. VanderGulik is dedicated to helping patients of all ages regain mobility and live pain-free lives.
Dr. VanderGulik began his path in healthcare with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from The Citadel, establishing a strong foundation in health and wellness. Following Kent State University of Podiatric Medicine, he completed a surgical residency in Maryland, training at Baltimore VA Medical Center, University of Maryland, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Dr. VanderGulik pursued a Foot and Ankle Surgical Fellowship with San Antonio Sports Medicine Associates, gaining advanced expertise in sports-related injuries and complex foot and ankle conditions.
Specializing in surgical and non-surgical treatments, Dr. VanderGulik provides care for various conditions, including fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, and complex deformities. He is dedicated to creating personalized treatment plans prioritizing each patient’s unique goals and lifestyle needs.
As an active Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast, Dr. VanderGulik understands athletes' demands and challenges and is passionate about helping patients return to the activities they love. He was very blunt with my foot problem. Do this or I will have to do this. He did a scrip but did not send it to the pharmacy until closing time. Now I have to make a special trip to get the ship. Story of my life. With long militaryservice I am used to waiting on?
