I was very concerned when I heard I had a retinal tear in my left eye. After a thorough examination by Dr. Rusu she said it was slight, that it should be watched, and that it may have been there for a long time. She wanted me to cShow moreome back in 2 weeks for another checkup. Dr Rusu was comforting and professional.

Irene Rusu, MD, is a fellowship-trained surgical and medical retinal specialist at Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Chicago in Illinois. Dr. Rusu completed her ophthalmology residency at the New York University School of Medicine and her fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/NY Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Rusu is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her research interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases. The doctor and the staff were all very helpful, but I did wait almost 1:30-2 hours just to go inside to see the doctor. It was maybe a busy day, but everything apart from the waiting was good.
