The experience with all the assistants within the office was superb. They were personable and compassionate. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about Dr. Rusu. My appointment started at 11:30 and I was finally seen by the doctor at Show morealmost 1:30. The doctor entered my room and I said hello. She immediately responded “hello, sir.” There is nothing about me that suggested that I’m a man. I don’t take offense but instead worry about the attentiveness not provided by this Dr. She seemed overwhelmed, or even bothered by having to serve me, and dismissing my concerns I had for my eyes and the fact that I sat for almost two hours waiting to see her. She even tried to defend well you checked in at 11:37. It was almost argumentative, especially when I said I checked in at 11:28. If it weren’t for the wonderful service provided by the others in the office, I would have given one star.
This was my first time meeting Dr Rusu. My doctor was not in the office. I went there without an appointment because I was experiencing pain in the eye that I had surgery on 3 weeks ago. She examined my eye, knew exactly what was Show morewrong, and told me what I am to do. I came home, followed her instructions, and the following day I was pain free. Thank you Dr Rusu.
Irene Rusu, MD, is a fellowship-trained surgical and medical retinal specialist at Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge in Brooklyn, New York. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Chicago in Illinois. Dr. Rusu completed her ophthalmology residency at the New York University School of Medicine and her fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/NY Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Rusu is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her research interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases. She has published, researched, and presented at national conferences of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Rusu has received numerous awards for her research, including the University of Chicago Ophthalmology and Visual Science Award for outstanding performance in ophthalmology.

The staff and the nurse assistants are caring and friendly. I spent most of the time interacting with them. The visit with the doctor took less than 15 minutes because all the pre- tests were done by the nurse assistants. Although the process is lengthy (I am a new patient) I am very satisfied with them.
I was greated by reception with the smile and professionalism Dr Irene was extremely pleasant and I felt like she took good care of me.
This visit was for an emergency, I did not have an appointment, yet they made time for me to come in the same day. They did a complete work up, and it seems that Dr Rusu correctly diagnosed and resolved the problem.

All in all my experience was positive, other than the extremely long wait which turned out to be nearly an hour and a half past my scheduled appointment time. The facility is state of the art, and the doctor is personable and knowledgeable.
