Dr. Lalani is a great doctor with amazing bedside manner. However, the front office staff leaves much to be desired when it comes to their customer service and respect to those that need a little extra help. Alice is a wonderful aShow moresset to the team but some of the others are lackluster and rude. The only reason I have given three stars is for the doctor and Alice. I have been a patient of Dr. Lalani's for five years. I have never been a difficult patient or one that does not pay. I just started a new job and was in training from 8am-5pm with a lunch break of 12-1, which so happened to coincide with their lunch break and their office hours. I could not answer my phone during my training times. I could only take calls if it was an actual appointment. They called to reschedule my appointment. I could not answer. I begged them over text, email, and voicemail to please call me shortly before 8am, just after 5pm, or during the 12-1 lunch break so I could answer the reschedule appointment phone call. I received no calls. I was essentially ignored. I was very disappointed with the way I was treated by the front office staff. I don't think Dr. Lalani would approve of it. The only reason I was able to reschedule my appointment was because we were released early on Friday from training and I called them three times after they did not answer their phone or call me back to reschedule. The woman on the phone told me she already scheduled me an appointment because she was not able to get a hold of me. This was a lie. I had been trying to reach them. They refused to call me when I needed someone to contact me. Luckily I was able to reach them and schedule my appointment for when I wanted to speak with the doctor. Otherwise, I would have had to wait another two weeks for an appointment. Very uncaring, rude, disrespectful, and uncommunicative.
Lately I have had extreme pain reoccur due to a herniated disc. So, I was referred back to Dr. Lalani for pain management. Once he was able to get me an MRI done I was able to get on the list for an injection pretty fast. The lShow moreadies in the office have always been so nice when I call or visit. My concern was the follow up after visits to let me know what was shown on my MRI. In addition to that I had to call repeatedly about getting an exact time for my back injection. Over the years I’ve had this done about 4 other times. Way ahead of the procedure I’m notified by the facility of what I need to do the night before and when I need to arrive. In this instance I didn’t hear anything until the day before because I had to go by the facility, constantly call and email. When you have small kids it is important to know when you will and will not be available. I’m not sure if this falls on the office or facility. The day of my procedure things went really well. Dr. Marla Freeman the anesthesiologist was very kind and informative about what she would be doing. The facility is very nice and clean. I didn’t get an opportunity to speak to Dr. Lalani before or after my procedure. He did walk by my bed and wave but I’m used to doctor’s coming by to speak to you. Aside from a little pain I still feel, my visit went well. If the pain doesn’t fully subside soon I will be requesting another injection if possible in the coming months.
About Dr. Lalani
Irfan Lalani, MD, PA, is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and board certified in pain medicine by both the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is currently in private practice in Sugar Land, Texas.
Dr. Lalani graduated as a valedictorian from the Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He then completed his residency in neurology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
During this time, Dr. Lalani served as chief resident and had the distinct honor of placing first in a nationwide examination of neurologists in training. The Texas Neurological Society also conferred the prestigious Young Investigator Award for his innovative research efforts.
Dr. Lalani subsequently completed a fellowship in anesthesia and pain medicine at the University of Texas (UT) MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. After his fellowship, he joined the UT MD Anderson’s Department of Anesthesiology as an assistant professor in pain medicine. He has published numerous textbook chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals addressing contemporary issues in pain management and neurology.
His unique background in neurology gives him an in-depth understanding of the structure and function of the nervous system. He uses these skills to perform detailed patient evaluations and formulate comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans.
Dr. Lalani also has extensive experience in performing and teaching a variety of interventional pain treatments, including nerve blocks, botulinum toxin injections, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency neurotomy, implantable nerve and spinal cord stimulators, as well as intrathecal pumps. Dr. Lalani is skilled in using these procedures judiciously to improve the quality of life for patients with back pain, neck pain, neuropathy, headaches, and more.
As part of his practice, Dr. Lalani works closely with other health care professionals including physical and occupational therapists, acupuncturists, spine surgeons, chiropractors, psychiatrists, and psychologists.
