Dr. McBride is not only thorough but listens to his patients. Even though I've just established care and not even met him in person--I feel he and his staff truly and genuinely put their patients first. I also appreciated the aShow moremount of time he spent with me and he takes his time to understand your health care needs, and comes up with solutions and strategies to deal and address your symptoms and problems. I'm excited that I found him and I thought it was just a consult to address and find out what else could be done to help, only to be grateful for him to take me on as a patient. I feel lucky and fortunate to have him as my doctor. The doctors I've had in the past for whatever reason don't match the caliber of Dr. McBride. Its hard at times for me to trust and put my faith in a doctor, but he tops the list of providers that strive for five, no make it ten. I wasn't expecting much from my initial consultation with him, but was left impressed and looking forward to my treatment with him and working with him. Its amazing what a little research on the Internet and a simple phone call to set-up a phone call can do. I never thought I would start with a doctor that was out-of-state and thought it would be risky, but I feel much different now. Cheers, many kudos, bravo and many thanks to him and his team!

He’s confident in the outcome of what we could expect from the procedures he was recommending and would be performing. Great personality and down to earth and matter of fact in his conversations. He didn’t try to gloss over or bypass anything he was explaining to hide anything from us. Made us feel like we were his priority and that he was recommending what was best for our scenario and why he was recommending that process for us - not ‘everyone else’ that he had treated. I would highly recommend Dr McBride and his partners ( Dr Derksen and Dr Jepson). Each had specific procedures and all 3 gave us the same feelings of confidence in the care they gave us.
J. Abram McBride, MD, is a board-certified urologist and men’s health specialist with fellowship training in microsurgery, male reproductive medicine, and infertility. He currently provides comprehensive men’s care at his private practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dr. McBride is a proud native of Virginia who served in the Virginia Army National Guard, including overseas for Operation Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.
Between his army tours, Dr. McBride graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and then received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk. During his time at EVMS, he was awarded membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies.
Throughout his urology residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, Dr. McBride learned advanced techniques in robotic, endoscopic, male prosthetic, and reconstructive surgery. He then completed a fellowship in microsurgery, male reproductive medicine, and infertility at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he trained with a world-renowned specialist in male reproductive medicine, Dr. Larry Lipshultz.
After his own experience with infertility, Dr. McBride developed a strong passion for improving men’s health, especially problems related to sexual function and male infertility. Patients of his private practice receive holistic care for conditions such as erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, Peyronie’s disease, and all aspects of male sexual dysfunction.
As a highly experienced microsurgeon, Dr. McBride performs penile implant procedures, vasectomy reversals, varicocele repair, and prosthetic urological procedures. He employs the da Vinci® robotic system and performs endoscopic surgery when possible.
Dr. McBride maintains active membership in numerous professional organizations, including the American Urological Association, Sexual Medicine Society of North America, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and Society for Male Reproduction and Urology.

Dr. Mcbride is very professional and knowledgeable, I would recommend him to anyone...his referral office is another story. Went back and forth between them and my insurance company for over two weeks trying to find my referral before someone on Dr. Mcbride's team found it (not the referral office). It was extremely frustrating but once they actually found the referral it was a very smooth and pleasant process.
Dr. McBride is an excellent urological surgeon, most likely one of the best in the US. Before the surgery he provided detailed information about the procedure. The post-surgery follow up was also very informative, useful. He is professional yet personable and relaxed.
