When I wounded my knee, I had zero clue where to go or what Dr to see or who to avoid. It was a stressful situation. Fortunately, I took a chance with Pioneer Peak Orthopedics and I ended up with Dr. Shaha and his team taking caShow morere of my knee. Dr Shaha explained in detail, in terms I understood with pictures & drawings, what the injury was, options for repair and possible issues. Dr. Shaha, besides being a very competent surgeon, compassionate and thorough, he is genuinely a really nice guy, I can’t recommend him and his staff highly enough.
Lots of encouragement and support, great at communicating, very informative, very professional, great experience. Dr Shaha is clearly knowledgeable and in demand, but his team is great at helping fill in the gaps. Jessica VanWulveShow moren and Brant Butters super great. I felt seen and heard and supported all the way through. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Everyone was very "on it" and really treated me like a VIP. HIGHLY recommend!!! 10/10! Jimmy Shaha, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon practicing at Pioneer Peak Orthopedics in Wasilla, Alaska. He specializes in sports medicine with an emphasis on problems from the shoulder to the fingertips.
Originally from the state of Utah, Dr. Shaha graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University, earning a degree in Neuroscience before enrolling at the University of Texas at Southwestern for Medical School. While there, Dr. Shaha earned membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha society. After graduation, he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dr. Shaha served five years on active duty in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Seoul, South Korea, and Landstuhl, Germany. In 2019, he deployed to Afghanistan as the lone orthopedic surgeon in Kabul. Most recently, Dr. Shaha completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. During that time, he worked with numerous collegiate and professional sports teams in the Phoenix area, including providing coverage for Arizona State University and the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL.
Dr. Shaha has been involved in research that has earned the O’Donoghue Award and the Hughston Award, the two highest research awards in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. His work on shoulder instability was also included as one of the 30 most influential studies in the first 50 years of The American Journal of Sports Medicine, the preeminent journal for Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
When not working, Dr. Shaha spends his free time with his wife, Erin, and their four daughters. They enjoy traveling, biking, and skiing as a family. He also loves to run, having completed multiple marathons, including Boston, as well as a full-distance Ironman Triathlon. The Shaha family is excited to discover all that Alaska has to offer and to be part of an area with an amazing culture and community.

This will be the 3rd surgery ive had to have for different things and Dr. Shaha is so kind and caring and really listens to what you're saying. I trust him with all of my being . I believe he always does your surgeries as if he were doing it on his own family member, hes all in and gives himself 200%. A genuine all around great person !!Thanks for everything

Dr. Shaha is so confident and experienced in his diagnosis and treatment. So kind and compassionate, but has such a great wonderful bed side manner ! It means a lot!!
Dr. Shaha was amazing! He made sure to take his time and listen to my daughter when she was describing the pain and found she did in fact have a break! Her last appointment went great and she is healed and able to resume back to sports.
Jimmy is a busy guy but he takes time out to understand your situation to give it some serious thought and come up with reasonable solutions. He’s amicable and genuine and I’m glad that he is my orthopedic guy.

Dr Shaha explained what he felt might be causing the pain in my thumb and listened to any questions that I had. He went over the xray and checked my hand out thoroughly.

Nice greeting and swift response in going back, waited for the doctor about 5-10 minutes and he was delightful and had a terrific bed side manner. He was reassuring, calm, and said he would take care of me which is a relief to know I’m in good hands.

Dr. SHAHA has treated me above and beyond any doctor that has ever treated me not only is his skill is a surgeon impeccable, but his bedside manner adds to the comfort and stress of going through surgery. I’ve been operated on him twice with very successful surgery. I recommend his physical therapy too.
