Janie Tran, OD

Janie Tran, OD, is an optometrist who joined the team at Southern Eye Institute in 2018. Serving patients at the practice’s clinics in Houma and Thibodaux, Louisiana, Dr. Tran provides a wide range of medical eye care services and specializes in contact lens fitting.  

After graduating high school, Dr. Tran attended Xavier University in New Orleans, LA, where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology. She went on to pursue her master’s degree in cellular and molecular biology from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Afterward, she attended the University of Houston, where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Tran is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and Optometry Association of Louisiana. 

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Tran also spends time giving back to the community by performing exams for the Community Outreach Program, which provides eye care to patients without insurance. She also works with the Southern Eye Bank and Chabert Ophthalmology to offer specialty contact lens fittings for corneal conditions.
