Dr Petersen performed a Mohs surgery around my temple yesterday. He removed a section that was slightly larger than a quarter. Any discomfort was minimal and because he is so good at what he does he could tell before the surgery tShow morehat the cancerous area was larger than I realized. He removed everything within two cuts. He stitches with such precision that my scars are mostly unnoticeable; you would think he was a cosmetic surgeon, and I learned yesterday in our conversation that he did cosmetic surgery before full time dermatology. I went straight out from there and worked in my yard for 5 hours with very little discomfort. He placed glue on top of the stitches as he knew my plan to work in the yard. Every staff member I spoke with was very caring with great people skills. Dr Petersen's upbeat personality also made the experience totally non-threatening. I've been seeing Dr Petersen and his staff for years and there is no one I ever want to see for my dermatology needs again. I've been to several derms throughout my life, and I found the place I trust my skin needs to.
Dr. Petersen went out of his way to take the time to describe the procedure in great detail. He was willing to answer all of our questions. He made me feel very comfortable during the procedure and told me step by step what was Show morehappening. I was very pleased with his bedside manner and knew that nothing less than excellence was acceptable to him.
Jeffrey E. Petersen, MD, FAAD, is a fellowship-trained dermatologist and MOHS surgeon at Missouri Dermatology Laser and Vein Center, which has locations in Fenton, Chesterfield, and O'Fallon, Missouri. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is an active member of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of MOHS Surgery.
Dr. Petersen completed his dermatology training at Indiana University School of Medicine and a skin cancer fellowship in MOHS micrographic surgery and reconstruction at the University of Texas Southwestern. He has been practicing dermatology since 2000.
Dr. Petersen has been the Mohs surgeon and held Assistant Professor positions at both Indiana University and Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis. He has also lectured and taught both nationally and internationally about skin cancer and diseases of the lower extremities.
Having lived abroad in Europe, Dr. Petersen is conversant in French. Outside of the office, Dr. Petersen enjoys spending time with his family and coaching youth football and baseball.

Both Dr. Peterson and Anastasia are very thorough in their examinations and the removal of skin cancer. I really like that they can check the samples under a slide immediately afterwards to make sure they got it all. That way, I don't have to come back later if they missed some of it.
