My orthopedic surgeon referred me to Dr. Axley for help in diagnosing some troublesome lower leg dysfunction in have been experiencing. Dr. Axley provided clear explanations of his exam findings and why he was ordering certain tesShow morets. The vascular function testing was done very efficiently in his office and he arranged a "roll-up" MRI for me at East Alabama MC. John Axley, MD, is a highly trained, board-certified vascular surgeon at the Surgical Clinic, PC, which services patients in Auburn, Opelika, and the surrounding counties in Alabama. Dr. Axley is dedicated to improving vascular health through advanced surgical and minimally invasive treatments.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Axley completed his residency in vascular surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he also contributed to innovative outcomes research in the field.
Dr. Axley treats a broad range of vascular conditions, including carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms, peripheral vascular disease, limb salvage, and venous disease. He is skilled in both open surgical procedures and minimally invasive techniques, allowing him to deliver personalized, high-quality care tailored to each patient’s needs.
After practicing for two years at Coastal Vascular and Interventional in Pensacola, Florida, Dr. Axley is now proud to serve the Auburn/Opelika community, helping patients achieve better vascular health and improved quality of life.

When I arrived I was shortly taken to a room where an ultrasound was performed. The technician was very efficient and professional and took me to a treatment room to wait for Dr Axley. I sat there for over an hour. When Dr Axley came in with an intern he told me there was nothing wrong with my veins and that there was nothing he could do. He did look at the toe that has been giving me a lot of trouble and recommend that I see a foot doctor, which I had already done. He was also very professional. Actually, he had recommended that I make this appointment at a previous appointment stating that he could fix my reflux problem in my legs. Even though I was glad nothing was wrong, I felt that I could have been given that diagnosis in less than an hour since the procedure that i had come for was unnecessary.
Dr.Axley is an oustanding physician !! Very companionate and very understanding. He knows his stuff.
