Dr. Baber always makes me feel like I am the only patient he has to care for that day. Unlike most physicians, he carefully explains in detail what your health condition is and what the best course of action is to achieve the desiShow morered outcome. I really cannot offer up enough praise regarding Dr baber's amazing compassion, professionalism and just unsurpassed bedside manner. My only regret is that I cannot have him as my primary care physician! The other physicians at Coastal Vascular- doctors Albaugh, Major and Quirk- have taken excellent care of me in Dr. Baber's absence. I must also mention the incredible professionalism and compassionate care provided to me by all of the medical assistants at Coastal Vascular. Monica, Perla and Amanda consistently do an excellent job bandaging and wrapping my leg(s).
On behalf of my husband, Larry and I am writing this review. He was taken to St. John's Hospital by ambulance and as a result of a severe injury to his leg, Dr. John Baber performed emergency surgery on Sunday, May 9. I receivedShow more a phone call from him and we spoke at length about the procedure and after care and he answered all my questions and concerns. I am thankful for Dr. Baber and the positive outcome from a situation that resulted in the emergency surgery on a Sunday. We met with Dr. Baber in his office for a follow-up appointment and recovery is going well.
John T. Baber, MD, specializes in vascular and endovascular surgery at Coastal Vascular Center. Dr. Baber provides comprehensive and compassionate care to patients at the practice's locations in Oxnard and Simi Valley, California.
Dr. Baber received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Neuroscience from the University of Virginia. Afterward, he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received his Doctorate of Medicine as well as a Masters of Business Administration from Tulane University.
While at Tulane, Dr. Baber was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in his third year of medical school (top 5% of class) and received the university-wide Tulane 34 Award at graduation. He continued his medical training at UCLA, where he completed his internship, General Surgery residency, and a two-year research fellowship focusing on the molecular mechanisms of ischemia-reperfusion injury. He subsequently trained in vascular and endovascular surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Cornell University Medical Center in New York, New York, before returning to Southern California.
Dr. Baber has developed a diverse skill-set, with the ability to treat complex arterial and venous pathology with cutting-edge minimally-invasive techniques or traditional open surgery. This allows him to tailor the treatment he provides to each patient's specific needs.

The treatments I had are not a pleasant experience, but Dr. Baber took extra care to try to ease any discomfort in the process. He listens to your questions, and provided any answers he could.
