Wonderful experience from before I even visited, to after I left. I have anxiety and distrust surrounding health, and in medical facilities in general. The environment is somehow calming (especially with the scripture on the wall Show moreand the Christian music), and every person on the team is genuinely warm, caring and professional. My wait time was very minimal, which I appreciated since I drove from Atlanta. Dr.Shelnutt is incredible— he made me feel heard and comfortable throughout my entire visit. His demeanor is patient, kind and respectful, and I valued his knowledge, detailed explanations and advice.

Dr. Shelnutt is an Athens native and UGA alumni. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in 1994. After completing his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Dr. Shelnutt returned to Athens to open his practice in 1999. Since that time, Dr. Shelnutt has sought out opportunities to expand his knowledge and skills.

Only gyn to ever listen to me, and treat my hormone issues. Started testosterone pellets and they are life. changing. I drive two hours, each way, just to see him. He is that good.
The entire staff is kind, great at communication, and efficient! The Doctor is always gentle and always makes you feel like you’re part of the team when there is an issue instead of you vs the Doctor. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Caring practice.
Best gynecologist I’ve ever been to. He wasn’t even scheduled to see me, but he and his staff knew I wasn’t feeling well, so they did a urine test and an ultrasound. Found out I probably have a kidney stone, but I definitely have a UTI. Wouldn’t have known that if they hadn’t cared about my well being.

Today wasn’t the best day for me. Only thing that helped was Doc Shelnutt and his amazing staff. They texted me back after I shared some symptoms I was having, got me in straight away, we have a plan of action and even though I was scared, he reassured me as did his nurses. All of the guidance I get is data driven and he knows how much his patients need to hear this. If you have any health anxiety at all, I strongly recommend you go to this very caring practice.

The front desk staff are consistently kind, respectful, and accommodating. Marybeth is always so polite and helpful. Every interaction feels warm and affirming. I’ve never felt more seen or accepted in a medical setting. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Shelnutt to all women, and especially to those in the queer community looking for a provider who truly cares.
I haven't felt normal for a very long time. It took one visit and Dr. Shellnut got me on the right path. I am so thankful for his wisdom, knowledge, common sense, and compassion. All of the staff are warm and welcoming. What a great team and I am so glad God led me to this practice! Very greatful
