Jose Luis Hernandez, MD, is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, treating patients at Premier Medical Center in the Toluca Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. He is currently the Chair of Internal Medicine at Providence St. Joseph Hospital.
Originally from Chicago, Dr. Hernandez attended the University of Illinois in order to pursue his medical degree. It was my understanding that Dr Marsh referred me to Dr Stark. When he was ill Dr Hernandez covered for him. I NEVER AGREED to retain Dr Hernandez, especially when he prescribed $150 medication, not covered by insurance with no explanation about side effects, purpose or any other info. I am not used to being treated like that. He refused to call Dr Wu when I requested it. He did not know the extent of my surgeries either, nor did he appear to care. I do not understand why this doctor change was made without my consent and I would appreciate an explanation. I was under the misguided info that my doctor was Dr Stark and no one had the courtesy nor respect to explain the change. This is not what has existed at Premier prior to this. When I have never needed decent care as much as now I do not understand this type of behavior by a professional. I could not be more concerned.
Luis was filling in for Dr Stark. Dr Marsh told me to go to Dr Stark because of his knowledge of drug therapy. After 3 surgeries at Cedars I would have thought Dr Hernandez would have known more about the situation. This experience has been hell with excruciating pain
